“A good place to stay at the end of your Camino”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

Walked the Camino de Santiago de Compestella through May and June 2013 heard about this Seminary along the way from fellow pilgrims. And we decided to stay here on completion of our Camino attend Mass and be awarded our Compestella then go out and have a celebration meal.
Booked on line on route for 2 nights 23 euros per night for a single Pilgrim room with breakfast which was available from 7-15 each morning. The pilgrim rooms are on the 4th floor plain simple and clean and after weeks of dormitory bunks snoring and earthy smells in large dormitories in Hostels this was just what was needed. The common areas, dining room and bar are shared by all guests. It has a sense of history and calmness about the place. The bar closes at 11-00pm however their vending machines outside elevator door spaces on several floors.
Their are no drying lines or washing drying facilities which would of been helpful. Enjoyed it would recommend it and would stay again. Bueno Camino.

This was the last hotel provided on my guided 100km Camino tour by CaminoWays.com (highly recommended). It is a former monastery converted into a classy hotel with modern-day amenities. Most of the stone walls are preserved as are some of the wooden windows. The room is small, clean and simple - - as you would expect a monk's room in the past - but with a classic wooden table and chair facing the window . Bed is comfy and I love the bedstand that has scallop shells as part of its decor. Bathroom has a shower but there is no TV. And there is free Wi Fi in the rooms - just ask for the password from the reception which is friendly and helpful. There's a bar lounge for drinks, a separate breaktfast room serving rather standard breakfast buffet fare, and a huge dining hall which reminds one of the Hogwarts dining hall in the Harry Potter films. Food for dinner seems to be cooked en masse so it's so-so but edible. The best part of the hotel is that it is just beside the Cathedral de Santiago in the centre of the Old Town. Blooming convenient. I actually requested for an extra night here but the tour agency couldn't extend my stay and I had to move out the next day to another hotel quite a distance outside the Old Town. So if you want to stay longer, make sure you book early as it is extremely popular because of the location.

Arriving in Santiago footsore and weary, the pilgrim's first task is to attend the Mass.
Afterwards we met our group in the square and headed for our hotel. The hospederia is an Alladdin's cave of wonder and charm. The old stone corridors of the monastery have been retained. A long passage -passing the cloister- takes you to Reception.
Our room was small but adequate. We had wooden shutters instead of curtains-fab. The shell motif on the bedstead was appreciated by those who had just come off the camino. We dined in a superb dining hall with a fantastic roof. The food was lovely. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Good coffee was appreciated. The Hospederia is located at the back of the cathedral. A great location. I plan to return to Santiago. I will be staying here again next time.

Room Tip: We were with a group and booked in by the group. I think all rooms would be quiet as it is the cathe...

Arrived in Santiago foot sore & weary. Checked in to the beautifully serene Hospederia. The building was once a seminary & has retained it's character following the transition to hotel. Centrally located in the old town, the front door opens on to the back of the famous Cathedral. As we walked back through the square following dinner late last night someone was playing the organ in the cathedral, it was simply magical. The rooms are basic, clean & functional. The charm of this hotel lies in its ability to instil a feeling of peace & tranquility.

This hotel is very well located, right next to the Catedral de Santiago de Compostela. The building itself is an old monastery and you get the feel of that when you see the long corridors that house the guest rooms. The décor inside the rooms is an eclectic mixture of period pieces and contemporary re-design. The rooms are very comfortable... with the exception that the Wi-Fi does not reach inside your room, so you basically are in a 'black hole" incommunicado from the world until you go to one of the common areas. Not convenient at all... that's the only reason why we changed hotels when we extended our stay in Santiago.

Bags of character in a old monastery right opposite the Cathedral, our room had the original brick windows (although the view was out onto a service courtyard!) Clean rooms, reasonable value, great location in the old town. We'd also recommend the bar opposite - Cervantes 13.
