“Comfortable and welcoming...”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

For my friend and I, this hotel was the final step of the Camino, we were soaking wet and wanted to get our boots off. The receptionist was wonderful, and gave us several recommendations for local restaurants. The room was huge, had 3 twin beds, a minibar, and a large bathroom with towel warmer -- that in itself, seemed to be some sort of miracle.

We had a great sleep, but it was kind of loud in the morning, we could hear people above walking around, and down the stairs. Nothing too inconvenient. That morning we missed breakfast (we mixed up the time), but the receptionist called down to the restaurant to see if there was still anything available, and said that the waitress still downstairs would make us something. We both had some coffee, and the waitress was kind enough to even set us out some pastries. Everyone there was really kind, and made our stay even more enjoyable.

My wife and I stayed here three nights to go visit Santiago and we are so happy with the choice we made. Our room was spacious, very clean and connected to complementary Wifi. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone visiting Angkor

In truth not many hotels live up to expectations but this is the exception. A small hotel just off the the French Way (pilgrim route) in to the city of Santiago de Compostela and about a 10 min stroll to the fantastic cathedral.

The staff are wonderfully helpful and the room decor is very good. The hotel is very clean and there is a free safe to use in your room cleverly linked to your room card.

If you are arriving by train it is a good 15 -20 minutes walk up hill to the hotel so it might worth investing in a taxi.

If you do walk then check an online map for the location as it sits on the Rua Bonaval just to the east of the old city.

If you are a peregrinos (pilgrim) you will pass close by as you come along the rue San Pedro nearing the end of your pilgrimage - a treat after all those Albergues (pilgrim hostels)

This is a great hotel to reconnect with creature comforts after your pilgrimage. The rooms are so comfortable and the location so convenient to the Old City that you can recover quickly (one night's sleep) and hit the streets to eat your way through the seemingly limitless selection of local seafood and tapas. We loved it and will certainly return when we complete the pilgrimage route to Finisterre. The accommodation star rating protocol was turned upside down for us after we enjoyed time at this remarkable 2 Star.

Breakfast was superb. Staff couldn't be more attentive, friendly and close. You can ask for any information and they are ready to help. Room was extremely clean and quiet and the hotel was a 15 minutes walk from the Cathedral through the beautiful narrow old streets of Santiago.
Finally, it is an incredible good value for money.

Desayuno formidable, personal atento y cercano, te dan información de todo. habitación espaciosa muy limpia y tranquila. El hotel está a unos 15 minutos de la catedral andando por las preciosas callejuelas de Santiago.
El precio es muy razonable.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floor and at the back of the street are quieter.

We were looking for a nice hotel (not too expensive) to stay in after walking on the Camino for 2 weeks and stayed at albergues with other pelgrinos with not the best sleep and chanced upon this hotel. The young lady at the reception was extremely helpful when we asked if there are rooms with view and a bath. She took me to the two rooms, one with bath and one with a view and let me decide. We picked the one with the view because it was a lot bigger in room and bathroom size. We were at the attic and the room has a view over the city. It was magnificent. For the price we paid, it came with buffet breakfast. The interior design of the hotel itself is really nice. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to everyone. I haven't had such sincere, nice service in a hotel (considering it is not a 5 star hotel) for a long time.

Room Tip: Asked for a room with the view, top floor!

For anyone wanting to make a pilgrimage, or just to have a few days in this marvellous little city, the Hotel Bonaval is recommended. Situated only 300 meters from the old town and cathedral, it is an easy walk to and from the fine buildings. The hotel itself is reasonably quiet with super staff who are friendly and helpful. Buffet style breakfast is well presented and healthy. All in all, a very happy stay.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms recommended for the view of the cathedral
