On one of our windiest, wettest days we visited A Coruna- never been before so it was an adventure. The fast train from Santiago was 6 euros then we caught the No.5 bus for a quick tour round the port to the Tower of Hercules. Windswept, wet and cold we made it to the entrance to dry out a bit!
The displays were well presented and, thanks to their excellent English translation boards, made it a great experience- we climbed to the top of the square tower but the wind gusts prevented anyone from climbing higher. The view from the top of the huge waves hitting the rocks was spectacular!
The explanations of the gradual erosion and then the enlightened rebuilding was really interesting especially the video of the construction drawings showing the Roman and 18th C alterations.
Definitely worth a visit, though on a calm, warm sunny day it might not be as exhilarating!
