Superb place to buy or try jamon. Their English was great and very helpful.

Vacuum packed the jamon for us and explained how long it could stay in and outside a fridge.

A must visit.

We visit Leonesa twice on our visit to La Coruna, the jamon iberico was out of this world, that good that we even took some home with us which the guys vacuum packed for us. The service from the two guys was extremely friendly and efficient and the house red wine they recommended was good quality. The place was very busy with locals and had a great atmosphere and smell from the many hanging hams

What a great little place this is. I had ticked this place off along woith 2-3 others prior to cruising to La Coruna. We decided to do a walk around concentrating on the older parts of the city when we stumbled across la Leonesa. I do love my jamon and we arranged to come back for a late lunch. The aroma is quite strong upon entering but I wouldn't have expected anything less. Our English friends with us decided not to return due to the smells but I adored it. We were warmly greeted and shown a table. Our young waiter spoke good English and was very patient with us. It is so hard to decide what to have and requested a tasting platter. I'm sure most of the tourists end up with this. OMG, the Jamon and Chorizo was to die for and the Beef Jamon interesting, a cross between jamon and jerky. Cheeses and bread washed down with a lovely red wine or two. I was ready to settle in for the rest of the day but alas it closes at 3pm for a nap and reopens at 5.
I will long remeber Jamoneria la Leonesa

Thanks to heavy fog, our cruise ship diverted to La Coruna from Ferrol, our tour cancelled and so we ended with a tour of the city. Our good fortune as it happened; the guide recommended this gem as we walked past early. Better still, we were able to find it again a few hours later (not easy in the myriad of lanes in the old quarter). The service was excellent, the staff easily switching from Spanish, English and French, explaining everything & ensuring we tasted some great local wine as well as meats, cheese and delicacies. All for €22 made for an excellent lunch in our eyes.

Stumbled across this gem of a restaurant whilst walking around the lovely la Coruna. Absolutely fabulous with so many Iberico hams hanging from the ceiling in a rustic setting. Lots of locals enjoying the evening dining atmosphere. We had the 'special' plate of different smoked hams and sausages, accompanied by a sumptuous plate of cheeses and local bread. The wine served as recommended by the waiter was delicious. Wonderful atmosphere. The smell of all the hams too.
Thoroughly recommended and will definitely return on my next visit to Coruna. Can't wait!!!
