Tarragona was the capital of the Roman province of Hispania. The museum has an extensive collection of Roman mosaics, statues, daily artefacts and coins. The exhibitions are neatly presented, the building itself being a gem to visit. On a very hot day, you'll appreciate the air conditioning too. For history buffs, only Segovia matches Tarragona. Do yourself a favour and visit the Roman ruins scattered all over town along with the museum.
