“Good Hotel, Amazing Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

We stayed at Hotel Lauria for 4 nights and were very impressed. The room was spacious and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the pool. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was very modern. The location is ideal -- right on Rambla Nova in the middle of the action but was also set back, so you don't get any of the street noise. About 100 meters from the hotel, you'll find the terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Rambla Nova also has street markets a few times a week, which were great to experience. The only negative about this hotel is that breakfast isn't included, but there are so many good restaurants and cafeterias in the immediate area that it didn't matter too much. Highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: We had a room on the 2nd floor with a view of the pool -- perfect.

Dear Ms travelingirl031,

Thanks a lot for your comments. As I always say our objective always has to be get the satisfaction of our guests and we work hard to get it, I'm happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. It's the best price that we can receive.

You comment that you can't book the breakfast service. About it I just can tell you that the almost webs where you can find you can choose between just room or room and breakfast. I'd like to know by which website you booked just to check is everything is ok.

It felt like a hotel, but is hardly a complaint. The staff was friendly and gave us fresh towels when we needed them, but it didn't feel warm or inviting like some of the places we stayed. The rooms are OK. The shower could use some attention, as the nozzle seemed to literally shoot water at a 90 degree angle, but the bed was comfortable, the room had AC and the balcony was good for relaxing and drying out your bathing suits. The beach is just at the end of the rambla, but because of the train station, you actually have to walk a bit north to get to it. Hardly a deal-breaker, but it's not as close as it seems. The rambla was really touristy, which isn't much our thing, but parking was provided at 12 Euros/night (a 50 discount for the underground garage) and overall the location is pretty central. It hits all the basic needs and I would definitely recommend it, but I wouldn't call it the most charming place.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms are a major plus.

Dear Meghan M,

Thanks a lot for your comments and your time. I'm happy that you enjoyed your stay in Tarragona and, of course, in Hotel Lauria.
I had informed to Maintenance Department about the question of the shower. The Maintenance Department has done a plan to check all the showers of the hotel.
I hope to see you again in the future.

The rooms are not why I choose this place, central Hotel w parking and good service. Appriciated the city centre just outside the door.No minibar but practical coin based machine in reception area. Swinming pool for those who for some reason dont want to go to the beaches in Tarragona

This is a nice small hotel in an excellent location right on Tarragona's Rambla Nova - one of its principal streets. Nice small pool area. One major downside was the noise - sound proofing between rooms was abysmal. Either that or the family next to us were the noisiest in the hotel.

It's only a few yards from the Balcon Mediterranean with great views of the med. Loved Tarragona, will come back.

A nice hotel close to all facilities, the beach, old town , restaurangs. The little train stoped not far from the entrance. The grand entrance from the Rambla Nova looked fabulous & really grand. The room was nice with air con, good comfortable and clean, but I missed a refrigerator, helpful staff and the pool was nice.
We had breakfast one morning, but the children didn't like it.

Room Tip: No refrigerator. The children needs to drink alot when it is warm.

Dear Mr/s Cissi B,

Thanks a lot for your time and your comments. It's great to know that you enjoyed your stay in our hotel. About the comment of the minibar/fridge I'd like to inform you that the spanish 3 star hotels don't need to have fridge/minibar, otherwise we're thinking in a option to offer to our guests. We hope to find a solution in the next days.

We booked a 2 night weekend break through the hotel's website and breakfast was included in the price, (€8.50 if purchased at the hotel). The hotel is wonderfully situated on the Rambla Nova close to the seafront and the Mediterranean balcony. We were arriving late in the evening during the Sant Magi festival so I emailed the hotel to confirm that they would hold the room and requested a room overlooking the Rambla Nova if possible. They responded promptly to acknowledge our late arrival and when we arrived we were given a room overlooking the Rambla. But this was no ordinary room, we were given an apartment, with separate living room and full sized bathroom with bath and shower over the bath. There was air conditioning in the hallway which made the apartment really comfortable as the heat in the city was oppressive.
There are lots of bars and restaurants along Rambla Nova but we found it more atmospheric to eat in the old town just a few minutes stroll from the hotel. It was the Sant Magi festival and there was entertainment and a real buzz in Placa de la Font which is lined on both sides with tapas bars and restaurants.
We took the little road train around Tarragona which provides a good overview of the city. you can get on and off at any of the 8 stops and there is a stop at the bottom of the Rambla Nova, stop number 7.
Tarragona is a lovely city and our weekend break just gave us a small taste of what it has to offer. We would love to go back when it is a little cooler so we can explore further.

A disappointing stay overall. We had 2 "executive" rooms which were worst than any other standard rooms we had stayed in 4 other cities on our tour of Bilbao, San Sebastian, Barcelona, Sitges and Tarragona. The AC di not work in one room for the entire stay and workmen who came in to unsuccessfully mend it made a real mess in the room. They didn't cover anything up and dripped fluid on a brand new unworn 85 Euros polo shirt. (The hotel washed it). It was extremely hot and despite daily complaints we were not moved or offered a refund.

Nice little pool and in a great location. Lovely entrance hall from the Ramblas. In drastic need of renovation. Very old fashioned in a 1970's cheap Costa style.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel with a pool.

Dear Mr Alanriley,

I'd like to say you thanks for the time used to comment your sensations and also say you sorry for the inconveniences that we caused you. I don't know the rest of the hotels that you used in your trip and their categories but we're a basic hotel with a not expensive rate and we're working hard to renew all hotel. You stayed in a room in a modern style refurnished 3 years ago; I can't understand your comments about 1970's.

As I've said you just three years ago we refurnished the 3rd floor and this year, for the moment, we've refurnished 10 rooms from the 2nd floor (all this means the 50% of the hotel and we're working to refurnish all the rooms from the hotel).

I'm sad about your comments because when we spoke directly in the hotel I thought that everything were ok. As you know we tried to de best for you to solve it fast but at last we had to change all the equipment and this operation needs time and your stay were a short stay.

Just to finish say you sorry again and, if you decide to visit us again, I promise you that you'll have a wonderful stay with the best conditions that we can offer.
