Dolce Sitges
Ranked #6 of 40 Hotels in Sitges
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Many reviews here comment that this hotel should be a 4 star and not a 5 star. The writers of these reviews reveal they don't quite understand the details of the Spanish hotel rating system...

The absolute top standard for hotels in Spain is 5*GL (Grand Lux). This hotel is rated as a 5* (one below the top notch of 5*GL) and that's exactly what it is: a really high end, luxury hotel, but not the absolute peak of perfection (whatever that means to you).

That said, it is easily the best in Sitges. Excellent rooms, although a little one the small side if you have a family with you since the sofa bed takes up a little too much space when opened out. The lyout is odd because of the hotel design and many will experience a LONG walk to you rooms, but the pool area is always within easy reach. Rooms were up to par, although the bathrooms while good, could do with a little touch up here and there.malso, I found the restocking of soaps, etc., to be sketchy. The rooms have a traditional minbar fridge which allows enough space to a lot in. Fw personal items if you wish.

The breakfast service is excellent, although there were times when the service inside in the mornings was quite slow because most were outside.

The hotel is a little bit out from town. However, the taxi is only about €8 to the market area on the seafront. Going any further in taxi will cost you a few Euros more and will take longer than walking because of the traffic. Ask to be dropped off at Bar PicNic: that's a great spot to start an evening in the town. We had a car but we took taxis most evenings, apart from the ability to have a drink, the Peking in the town is chronic so taxis are easier.

We enjoyed our stay here. On the downside, the pools areas are a little on the small side and as others have mentioned there is much contention for sunbeds. The evening dining service is very expensive. At €42 per person (50% less for children under 6) it is WAY TOO expensive for families for what you get. The only other option is a limited bar service menu. If the hotel provided more flexibility here, they would I'm sure have more people stay there in the evenings, otherwise the trip into town makes a lot of sense.

Visited for 4 nights - 5 whole days - with my 23 year old daughter and had a great time, all was just as we'd hoped. Peaceful, v comfortable beds - down a very very long corridor (!) - but with a great view of the sea. We prefer a beach to a hotels' pools but lots of families were having a great time. The beach shuttle bus was most efficient and comes to collect you at a selected pre-arranged time. Once there the good beaches stretch back to Sitges - various beach clubs offer loungers and parasols and snack bars, one had waiter service and a more extensive menu, recommended by the shuttle driver. We tried three and they were all good in their different ways. We were on a b & b basis at the hotel so did not try the restaurants, apart from enjoying breakfast and the seating outside. Instead we dined in Sitges, inexpensively, twice at a particularly delicious 'modern tapas' restaurant. The young men who man a desk at the front of reception were most helpful with restaurant and general information and booked tables up ahead for us (which is a good idea). Sitges is a most pretty town with lots of good shops, the sea just the other side of the promenade both sides of the beautiful church. We enjoyed massages in the hotel's spa, the best I have ever had. Other people have mentioned the cost of a transfer from Barcelona airport - we used Suntransfers: 119.24 euros return for the two of us, so good value, and their website was very clear to follow, top marks there. Our short break was the perfect length of time to stay at the Dolce for us - we would love to return.

We chose the Dolce due to it being billed as the only 5 star hotel in Sitges. We were neither disappointed nor pleasantly surprised.

We think that the 5 star status must be because of the range of facilities (good pool and spa) and availability of room service. It is a very nice hotel, but not luxurious.

Pro's:
- great sea view from our room
- all rooms have balconies
- very comfy bed
- we liked the location, being removed from the hustle and bustle of Sitges
- great variety at breakfast buffet
- free parking and wifi

Con's:
- noise from railway
- patchy room service
- dates bathroom with no standalone shower
- maintenance needed to walls and plasterwork
- small tv, with not much besides news channels

We would stay here again.

Regarding the con’s you mention, we are working on refurbishing this year all our corridors (from 1st to 4th floor already done, with 5th and 6th being executed later in the year) and with works in rooms to be executed next year (painting, words, etc.). And about the tv set, we offer over 42 channels in 15 languages as well as a pay per view system complementing the range of entertainment.
Again, we thank you for your visit and for sharing your comments with other future visitors and we look forward to having the opportunity of welcoming you soon again at Dolce Sitges.

We enjoyed our stay at the Dolce Sitges. Thus said it isn't exactly a five star resort as advertised. Also, there is no kids club, rather kid activities to keep your kids occupied. Your presence is also required.
The restaurants are great. The different themes provided variety, although you still need to break from the hotel at least twice a week.

One of the more surprising facts was as the water is not potable, they charge you €3.00 per small bottle. This is somewhat scandalous. There is no filtered water fountain anywhere, and in the crazy summer heat you need to keep your kids hydrated. Quick tip, drive down to the city and splurge on a few large bottles. Again very surprising there is no water fountain in a hotel of this supposed standing.

A great hotel, with great service. The services and facilities available are good. We all, including our 6 year old son, loved the variety of outdoor pools, and the food options at breakfast and dinner. The waitresses and waiters were fantastic with our son.
For a hotel chain of this size, it was a very pleasant stay and I would be happy to visit again.

This place is amazing. If you go you have to try their beauty farm.
Wonderful sights and I loved their food, I was waiting for mornings to come to taste their breakfast!
It's not very close to Barcelona, so if you don't have car and want to visit there it may be difficult.

This is a very good hotel for a relaxing break. We stayed in August with our two children

The pools were very nice with plenty of sun loungers available at all times of day. The indoor pool and spa was also very good ( you need a swim cap) and has designated times for kids.

There were some activities at the hotel but you have to go looking for them.

The hotel is an odd design and takes some time to get used to in that the pools, reception are on level 4 but some rooms are lower than this.

Breakfast selection very good. Dinner is excellent but costly at 42 euro for adults and 21 for kids.

We had a family room at the end of a corridor so it was very quiet although I can imagine that some rooms would have a lot of people walking past as they are long corridors.

We had a dispute with the hotel in that the room they gave us had a very small sofa bed which could only accommodate one child which was not what we had booked or paid for. We were given another room with a bigger sofa bed but only after I had said I was leaving. The hotel could have handled this better. The room was a reasonable size but some of the furniture was bashed and our room didn't get made up on one day. Wifi is good and free.

There were a lot of same sex couples at the hotel which I'm fine with but if you are not then you may not want to go to this hotel or Sitges generally.

The hotel is away from the centre and taxis were typically 10-15 euros each way. The hotel was a 100 euro trip from barcelona and 80 euros to the airport so not cheap.

Room Tip: Try a room like 373 or 473. You are a long way from reception but the room will be very quiet and ha...

We are very happy to read your comments honouring Dolce Sitges and especially the positive remarks around our pools, Dolce Vital Spa, the children activities, wi-fi connectivity and our breakfast and dinner.
Also, we appreciate your comments on the hotel design: it was done on purpose so most of the rooms (over 70%) can have at least a certain sea view but it is true that it takes a small time to understand that the main floor and corridor, connecting everything, is the 4th story. And for sure, we regret the challenge with the room you booked that was not provided upon arrival: sorry for it and for not managing in advance!
