“Luxury outside of town”
Reviewed October 9, 2011

Dolce Sitges is a large, modern hotel situated on a hill outside of town. It is about half an hour south of Barcelona, and can be reached by taxi or train. We were there for a business meeting, but the hotel seemed quiet at this time of year. The weather was beautifully warm, with no rain, so relaxing by the pools was quite nice. All the public spaces were clean, modern, nicely furnished and pleasant. The same can be said for the staff, who were all helpful and professional when approached. There is a small shop selling coffee, sweets and sandwiches, which gives an alternative to the lunch buffet, otherwise there is also an expensive restaurant. In all fairness, since we were with a group, we did not pay as much attention to the restaurants, and which ones were open at which times; there seemed to be a few options.
Our large room was bright, with a balcony (all rooms have one). There was plenty of space to store clothes, a safe, a working desk, lounging chair, flat screen TV, nice-sized bathroom with robes, plenty of bath products. The bed was harder than in most American hotels, with nice sheets and a quilt. Some of the rooms look out to the sea, while others face inland or the pools. Both can be nice, as the hotel is high up and not obstructed. I would not pay more for a sea view, if it comes to it.
It is a 50 minute walk into town, most of which is along the promenade at the beach. There are many sections of beach to choose from, depending on whether you prefer family or adult. The town itself has historic sites and many streets to wander.
It would have been helpful if the hotel had provided some information about the town, activities and restaurants there. Unless you ask, it seems that you are totally disconnected from Sitges and what it has to offer, but that is not really the case.
Dolce Sitges is a nice place to escape before or after a visit to Barcelona. A couple of days should be enough.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the elevator area.

In my opinion, the Dolce Sitges hotel should be booked for travellers who want to relax and enjoy it as a resort. It has got beautiful and big swimming pools and a lot of green areas to rest and sunbath. Additionally, the hotel has a modest Spa: indoor pool, jacuzzi, turkish bath and sauna.

It is located a bit apart from Sitges downtown and it is not really in a confortable walking distance of its beaches.

Rooms are ok, especially the seaview ones. Being such a massive hotel, expect some amount of walking from the rooms to reception and the restaurant.

Best features: breakfast! and the Swimming pools.

Areas to improve: overpriced food in its restaurants and room service, lack of some room amenities to become a true Luxurious hotel

A really fantastic Hotel, one of the best i have ever stayed in.From the moment we arrived the service and friendliness of the staff was excellent. As it was late when we arrived we decided to have a drink in the bar.We ordered 2 glasses of wine and the total was 10.80 Euros which is very good for a 5 star Hotel. We then decided to order 2 bottles of wine (1 White & 1 Red) and a packet of potato chips and were amazed at the price...21.71 euros including tax...what a bargain and also service with a smile.......
The following morning we had breakfast sitting in the stunning sunshine overlooking the Terremar Golf Club and the quality and choice was just amazing and again the friendliness of the staff. As regards attention to detail the prunes even had the stones removed......just superb.
The quality of the rooms was superb and lazing around the many outdoor pools was just an experience with very comfortable sun beds and bean bags...one did not want o leave this quality hotel.
I know some reviews complained about the hotel being too far from the center of Sitges but it is only a 9 euro taxi journey away from the center of the resort.I would recommend a car if staying in this hotel but as stated above its only a short taxi ride from the center of Sitges.
Keep up the excellent work........ and keep the prices keen and we will be back again soon....

Room Tip: Any room in this hotel is superb.

We visited from Canada recently for 5 days. The facility is lovely and the service was exceptional. Each morning we started the day with their generous breakfast buffet and then lounged around the pools like movie stars! Thanks for an unforgetable experience.

Nice hotel, and good service. The rooms were quiet and very clean. Ideal for a romantic weekend and very professional spa masseurs. The breakfast was excellent with views to the garden and see. We will repeat!

Beautiful hotel. Service excellent. Great location. Not close to the beach however a shuttle bus was available every 20mins or so to transport guests for free to the nearest beach.
Standard of the rooms was 4.5 start and definitely not 5 star.

Nice hotel, staff are very polite and kind, but make sure you don't go off season, they seem to be very good at providing good service in high season, but part of our staying was at the end of the summer holiday and thus off peak season, most people were gone, which meant less staff around, with the obvious consequences of worse service (including spending 20 mintues trying to book an early wake up call as the only receptionist on duty was busy on another call so I ended up going to reception in my pjs at 1am!!!). Also there are only two places to eat for lunch, a very expensive restaurant, and the bar/fast food shop where a tiny and basic salad in an also basic plastic bowl with plastic cutlery costs around 14 euros, and it wasn't any better than then ones you buy in your local supermarket!!! Also, buffet for dinner is 40 euros ahead, drinks not included, so if you travel with kids as we did, that's 200 euro plus drinks! So my main complain is that there are just two main restaurantes, one open for lunch, both open for dinner (except Monday and Tuesdays when barbacue restaurant closes) but get your wallet ready for a painful bill; as the hotel is off Sitges centre (10 minutes drive), the lack of choice for what and where to eat can be very annoying. But don't be put off by these comments, as long as you know what to expect, the hotel is a lovely place, lovely views and good service (as long as you're happy to pay for it!).
