“Only scrapes the four stars”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2012 via mobile

The hotel is in the most fabulous area, beautiful views overlooking the sea and port.

However - the rooms are decent size but a little dated... As is most of the hotel. It's clean enough but wants a refurb.

The only reason it has 4 stars is due to the facilities. This place am couloirs have so much potential but lacks the x factor in so many ways....

Breakfast is far from acceptable - food is not topped up, choice would be "ok" if they served what they'd run out if and could not be bothered replacing. The coffee and juice are terrible!!! Kind of thing you expect in a 2 star ibis!!

But - the best sunset and view in sitges !!!

Yes the hotel is a bit far from the main sitges town but you know that when you book. The area around is lovely and an area of sitges we did not know existed and we have been twice before. Beaches close to hand, although one is nudist but you don't have too look! Staff friendly and efficient. On arrival patio door would not lock so that came and fixed it. Last night the safe would not open and the friendly receptionist came immediately and sorted it.
No complaints whatsoever

In general it is difficult to find a good hotel in Sitges which will tick all of the boxes. I have just finished staying 4 nights in this hotel and will try and give an unbiased overview of what to expect.

When arriving the hotel is located at the port so a lovely view of the port and ocean. The hotel itself is quite dated decor wise, I would personally rate it as a 3 star but I imagine the view plays a lot in the hotel's rating. Check in was not until 3, which was annoying as arrived at 10am but room was ready by about 2.30.

The room itself, while a bit old fashioned is a good size. A separate bedroom, nice bathroom and the living area which has a hob and fridge. The couch is a fold out bed if needed and the balcony we had overlooked the ocean and port which was nice. The rooms were very clean.

The pool was a little disappointing, very limited space for sunbeds and the majority of them are in the shade so a alot of people seemed to go to the beach. The pool was generally quiet (which suited me!) except for a few children.

The location of the hotel has big pros and big cons. It is on the port so there are some nice restaurants immediately outside to the left which is helpful. However to get into the centre of Sitges it is quite a trek. For people with mobility issues, the walk would be difficult and you would definitely need to get a taxi. The walk consists of first some steep twisted steps and then about a 20 minute walk. While the walk is a nice one as you can walk along the seafront, you again have to tackle the stairs of the big church and it is quite hilly. For my first few days the walk didn't bother me, but after the novelty wore off I got fed up with the trek in and often got cabs. Nearly always got cabs home. You can expect to pay about 8 to 10 euro for a taxi, so not too bad but it can all add up.

Do be warned that there is a NUDIST beach right beside the hotel. I walked to the steps at the top of the pool and found a nudist beach. You will have to walk by this every time you walk to the town. Personally I'm not phased by this at all, but I know some people will prefer to avoid it but it (while others love it!)

The staff on reception are always friendly, but the wifi access from the rooms is pretty much non existent! You can get wifi easily from the pool or reception area, but as I needed constant access to my email it became a bit of a pain to go down to reception with my iPad every time I needed wifi.

Breakfast was included in the price and was a very decent spread of cereals, bread, fruits and some hot food.

Overall the port sitges is one of the better hotels offered in sitges. In the grand scheme of hotels, it is nothing special and very average, but better than a lot in Sitges. Would it be right for you? If you are coming for the nightlife and to be in the middle of the buzz, be prepared to have a bit of a trek to it which can lose its novelty after a few days - but if you don't mind the walk then why not. If you have mobility issues, you would need a taxi to get around. If you want a relaxing and peaceful break, with the option of the buzz of the city than this would definitely do.

Room Tip: Request a sea view. If you can get one of the rooms overlooking the pool and port/sea it would be be...

We had requested a sea view with private balcony and a Queen sized bed, so when we walked into our apartment we were very disappointed to find we had no balcony, no sea view and twin beds! We had a paved terrace, overlooked by all, and sectioned off by dead looking pot plants with healthy weeds that blocked our view. We complained and were told no other rooms were available. We asked for a refund and were told it was not possible.

Wifi didn't work, neither did the very old TV. There was only one cup and saucer but no complimentary tea or coffee. The air conditioner sounded like a Boeing 747. We pushed the single beds together but our feet dangled over the bottom of these baby sized beds. The room was small for the price.
The "resort" was 25 minutes walk from the main Sites township and the whole place had a decaying look and feel to it. We certainly do not recommend this place to anyone.
To cap off a bad stay the door wouldn't lock and then locked us out for 3 hours whilst we waited for it to be repaired. The only positive thing I could say is that there were no visible signs of a rat infestation.

Room Tip: Stay in another hotel.

just back from a week at port sitges resort hotel. Hotel in lovely spot and room had lovely view over marina. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely clean and well kept pool. Not a lot of sunbeds around pool due to space however most guests very obliging and did not try and reserve with towels. Very civilised. Yes it is a ten minute walk into town but this is along beachfront so hardly a hardship unless mobility is a problem as it does involve steps. Sitges is lovely town and will definitely be back.

We arrived at the Port De Sitges Resort after a long day travelling. We had requested a sea view with private balcony, so when we walked into our apartment we were very disappointed to find we had no balcony and no sea view! We had a paved terrace, overlooked by all, and sectioned off by dead looking greenery that blocked our view. We complained and were told we would be moved in the morning, but in the morning (9 00am) a different lady said 'not possible', after some discussion she said she would try and we would have to pack up and leave our cases with them and check back later that day. We returned and were told they had found us a suitable apartment, which we moved into - unpacked and went down to the pool. When we came back I thought I would make a cup of tea in the (very basic) kitchenette, but to my amazement there was no kitchenette, which we had not noticed when we originally moved in. I then had to go to reception again and explain that we had paid for an APARTMENT with kitchenette, seaview , with private balcony. It was third time lucky, but we had moved three times by our second day. The marina is lovely but very expensive in the bars around that area. The nearest supermarket is a twenty minute walk , consisting of steps and hills, there are a couple of tiny shops near the marina but they only sell the basics and are very expensive. The walk to Sitges takes at least half an hour, and has to be done in flat shoes as lots of steps and hills. If you chose to go by taxi it will cost you £17 euros! I found the hotel tired and dated. Also, my last moan, they would not change any money, we had to go to the bank in Sitges or find a cash machine, not very convenient for their guests. Sitges was amazing and we loved it and will be going back but not to this hotel.

Having been to Sitges over 12 years ago whilst single and had the best time ever, this holiday with my husband and 6 year old daughter was going to be different. Finding the right place to stay was key and we did just that with Port Sitges Resort. This apart-hotel is fabulous. The rooms are a good size with great views over the marina to the sea. They are equipped with pretty much everything you need for either a short or long stay (we were there 9 nights) - a decent living area with cable TV (shows Disney channel in English - great for kids to unwind after a day in the sun whilst you get ready!) kitchenette with electric rings and fridge. The staff are wonderful - pretty much all of them save for a few restaurant/cleaning staff spoke pretty much perfect English and were really helpful. The cleaners were brilliant - each day the room was cleaned within an inch of its life and even our daughters toys (which grew in numbers daily!) we're placed with care on her bed! The breakfast which had included in our stay was lovely. A vast selection of breads, cold meats, fruit, cereals etc and even an option of bacon, sausage and eggs! Always fresh and plentiful whatever time in the morning you went down (up to 10.30am weekdays and 11am weekends) and sitting outside overlooking the marina was a perfect start to the day. The restaurant and bar was also excellent in the evening and I had possibly the best gin and tonic ever a few nights in the bar! The restaurant "La Cucanya" was very good - food very tasty and average price for the area.
The pool is big and there was usually space to lay out on loungers, although it could be busy at times. Wi-Fi worked perfectly in our room and around the hotel which was great. As other reviewers have noted, it is a good 15-20min walk along the coast to Sitges main town and we did find that in the heat (min 30degs, average 32degs) when we were there, we only did it once, preferring to get a taxi (8-10euros depending on time of day) to the train station in town. However, the whole point of staying at the marina is the peace and quiet compared to the town centre and we loved that. The nearest beach was about an 8-10min walk away, but with so many to choose from - you're spoilt for choice! Pretty much the same with restaurants at the Port. Our favourite was Les Fonts d'aguiladoc - the food was excellent (as we're many of them along the front here), but it was the service which set it apart - it was fabulous! So much so, that we ate there 3 times during our stay. We loved Port Sitges Resort so much, we're already planning to return next year.
