Well we arrived the last weekend in sept and the flight was delayed because of such bad storms around Barcelona, never seen sooo much rain! Our plans to get the train were halted as they had been stopped due to the weather and possibly an accident on the line so we had to get the bus, only it was about two hours to the next one. Taxis way too expensive about €70 as they charge both ways ! Only place I've ever come across this ? Once on the packed bus it took a good half an hour but something like €7 euros each. Did ask the driver to tell me when it sites, but he didn't, luckily another passenger did. Short walk to the hotel, less than ten mins, but not so good in a downpour. After that it just got better. The hotel is a gem, it's right in the centre, we stayed in the annexe across the road, two huge beds, big squashy lovely pillows, one if THE most comfortable beds I've slept in. Tea and coffee making facilities, tv, free wifi, clean power shower and bathroom. Reception really helpful, free tea, coffee and cake in the afternoon. The breakfast was superb, so much variety. Comfy public areas, nice pool area, right in the centre of everything. I could go on it was just spot on, I would definitely go back and recommend. The weather improved on the sun and Monday so was able to sit on the really clean wide sandy beach. Great restaurants, especially the Buenos aires Argentinian restaurant. Many tapas bars too also we had dinner at the sister hotel the plajta d'or on the seafront, choose from a set menu , three courses , great choice, fantastic food all for €14 each including a free glass of cava. Lovely boutique shops nearby, such a great clean place. I went with a friend and felt very safe even though we were two ladies alone. Yes there's a gay community there but you don't have to be gay to go there, don't know what all the fuss is. A previous reviewer had said wouldn't want to bring a family, only suitable for gays, personally think they were trying to keep the place a secret cos it's so nice! I really don't care what other people get up to, think it's a lovely place for all to see. One of the best weekends away I've had.
