In summary, a really tired hotel with poor customer service. We were instantly disappointed with the hotel when we walked in (jet2 have done a good job of making the hotel look good on the website. It is not 4 star!). Dated decor throughout, small room, very basic facilities.
Breakfast was actually quite laughable - the 'hot' food was cold and uninviting, tables not cleaned, no atmosphere, frosty reception from staff. After the first morning we played safe and had coffee and toast, still not great.
The pool and old part of the hotel look nice but that's about it. The pool bar was shut for the most part and lacked atmosphere when it was open. Unfortunately the hotel has the feel of a business that is in decline. The staff seem to be going through the motions which is actually a bit sad.
Positives about the hotel - good location with nice walk into the town. That's really about it!
We stayed as a group of girls and so made the best of it, however, had this been my main holiday with my family I would have been gutted.
Recommendations to the owners/staff - brush up on your customer service skills and try to remember that people are generally on holiday. A smile and a friendly welcome go a long way!
