we arrived at Montserrat on May 1, not realizing that this was a holiday!.. the place was very very busy... it took hours just to drive up!.. however once the crowd went home, we found the whole place very peaceful... we started early the next day at the basilica and had a long private visit with the Moreneta... it was very healing... wrt the rooms, it is more than we hoped for!.. very clean and very spacious and inexpensive!.. however, our needs are very simple compared to other people... we came complete with some groceries but since it was a holiday, we were not able to top up our supply... the little supermarket in the complex was surprisingly well stocked... the bread was not very fresh, but one cannot expect a bakery in the middle of a mountain range... there was even a wifi connection at the Hotel Abat Cisneros, which was free... all in all, we give it two thumbs up!
