Along one of the main streets in Montserrat you can find the museum alongside other interesting shops and directly across from the train station that brings you to this mountain area. If you have toured the city, church, monastery then you should stop in and find delightful items. From books, music, art, iconic souvenirs to simple items there is something that you may wish to share with another or keep as a remembrance to this fantastic region of Spain.

Educational and interesting.
But would recommend going through it quickly (no need to spend your day there) and then get out and enjoy the rest Montserrat has to offer.

If you're expecting the Louvre or the Museo del Prado, expect to be disappointed. But remember where you are--on the grounds of a monastery complex that's nearly a millennium old. And remember that this little museum has neither billionaire donors nor a staff that's 100 strong. In fact, it is curated by a monk who is resident at the monastery. Then be humbled at the thought that next to the biggest site of pilgrimage in Catalunya lies a building with a small but astonishing array of works by world-class artists from Picasso, Renoir, Caravaggio, Dali and El Greco. Yes, in many cases there are only one or two pieces by them, but then ask yourself: have you ever seen a monastery with such a collection? I certainly haven't.

For those who are aware of the centrality of Montserrat in the modern history of Catalunya, this is also an opportunity to get acquainted with some a number of modern Catalan artists.

Most of the readers who are disappointed in this museum came in expecting to see a hundred Monets. That may be the fault of advertising or, as likely, unrealistic expectations. This is a lovely collection in a simply unrivaled setting.

This museum offers a lovely way to spend an hour in Montserrat away from the crowds. It's eclectic, lots of unexpected finds here and everything nicely displayed. It offers two floors of exhibits and very clean bathrooms. A strong plus is it's gift shop (which doesn't require you pay admission) with a good variety of souvenirs and gifts for yourself.

We drove here from Madrid - Barcelona highway. There are 10 kms of winding mountain road to negotiate. Arrived mid-afternoon by which time some of the early arrivals were leaving and we found a parking spot close to the main entrance. The views are terrific. The funicular train to the top appears to be nearly vertical. Don't miss it. The Monastery and Museum are also impressive. Make the effort ot visit if you are in Barcelona area.
