“An experience!”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

We were taken for lunch as a birthday treat and had the tasting menu, served with specially chosen wines. The food was superb, especially the beautiful design of each course and the special plates which all added to the experience. The wines selected and served with each course (14/16 I think, but all taster size) were also beautifully selected. The service was absolutely the best we have experienced; each course is described, as are the wines served, but there is absolutely no pretension, no dress code, no superiority. In fact when our waitress realised we were there for a special occasion not only did she offer us a tour of the kitchen, where Joan Roca joined our photograph, but afterwards while we enjoyed another bottle of champagne in the beautiful gardens, they brought out a specially decorated gold leaf chocolate bombe for us to share! I cannot recommend this highly enough - you may only do it once but don't miss it. Incidentally, I agree with a previous review. Think at least 200 Euro a head for the full experience! It REALLY is worth it. Thank you the Roca family - and do try the blown sugar apricot......what an experience!

“They can do no wrong....................”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

Few restaurants can share the kind of accolades heaped on the brothers three and it is always disappointing to read of someone who more or less dined at the same time as oneself having a terrible experience. We had the degustation menu a couple of years ago, which was so memorable we still talk about it; a profusion and combination of the most exotic tastes, that just exploded in ones mouth, and which were always presented in a most thoughtful and often amusing fashion. We thoroughly enjoyed a most blissful and unhurried experience. I guess I have been on nodding terms with Can Roca since the late eighties and have probably eaten there more than a dozen times, each last experience eclipsing the previous one. On this most recent occasion I shared the Iberian suckling pig with my host and what a wonderful dish that is, with the crispiest of skin and most flavourful pork imagineable. We helped it down with the complimentary Cava that just kept on coming at no charge whatsoever. We had started with an array of amuses bouches and a highly recommended dish of oysters poached in Manzanilla. All quite perfect and served with exquisite aplomb by highly trained waiting staff. I, for one, cannot wait for my next visit.

“"Exquisite"”
Reviewed June 15, 2012

There really is nothing more I can add on top of all other comments to describe how amazing the experience is of dining in such a restaurant. The staff friendly yet discreet, they..15 of them apparently! seemed to glide around the restaurant that you hardly notice them.the execution of everything was perfection. I had the menu "festival" which was just incredible, mindyou there were so many little tasters beforehand, each one an explosion of amazing tastes in your mouth, that I wondered when the menu was ever going to start. There was no trouble at all to change a couple of dishes due to food allergy,a real ambulance jobby by the way, not a daft food intolerance!! after 24 courses I didn't feel overful at all, but that,s the whole point, how they can produce such a menu.
The lighting and ambience of the place makes it all the more special .
My only negative comment would be that I did find alot of the savoury tastes include to much sweetness, but that's just me, It just got a little tiresome on the old palate having not even got anywhere near the dessert part which by the way, blew us away...Amazing

“In terms of quality and quality/price superb considering it is a 3 star Michelin”
Reviewed June 12, 2012

Had the biggest tasting menu. Lovely, worth it, there are more expensive 3 star Michelin restaurants, this one is correct, and food is lovely. For special occasions. Currently ranked second world's best restaurant. Also had wine and food matching, which was also superb. Quality of the wine's very good. Only downside is that you have to book in advance, 3 months at least at peak season
