“Very good restaurant in a lovely setting!”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

We have eaten here several times over the years and never been disappointed in the quality or quantity of the food. We eat at lunch time and in previous years have had to book earlier in the day as it is always full. This year, we were the only diners, and although Girona was quiet with fewer than normal tourist numbers, I do hope that the few negative reviews haven't put prospective customers off. Whilst the staff and manager could possibly be thought of as unfriendly, I feel that this is made worse by their lack of English. We had a short conversation with the waitress and lady owner, me speaking French, they speaking Catalan! We managed to communicate satisfactorily.
The menus are in several languages, so there is no difficulty in ordering. The vegetable terrine and warm goats cheese salad starters were excellent, we both had the oven baked hake, which was freshly cooked and of good size, the desserts were ok, probably bought in. Excellent wine in a 1/2 litre size, just right when one person has to drive. Good value at Eu13.95 each plus wine.

“very good fixed menu”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

we came across this place while walking around the jewish quarter and decided to come in, very nice and "fancy" place but prices are very good, we had fixed menu launch and had very good time and very nice meal
service was little slow and main course came without side dish.

“Great for lunch”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

We called in here on a rainy day for a quick lunch but were tempted to stay longer because of the excellent menu. Good choice of local dishes, very helpful English speaking staff who had no problems dealing with my need for gluten free food. The meal was enjoyable, well cooked and presented. Reasonable price for wine, overall very good value with a pleasant retro atmosphere. Well worth a visit if in the old town.

“Poor food”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

The priced fixed menu: no beverages are included; quantity of food is very small. As a second course we asked for fideuà and there were two prawns ( so far ok ) but just TWO mussels! That was ridiculous. It was too oily too. The dessert was poor, the profiteroles were factory made. This is the second time we have been there but I have the impression it got worse.

The location is nice; service was not bad in our case but too expensive for what we ate.

“Disgusting food, awful service”
Reviewed March 24, 2012

Although we had the 'pleasure' to experience how the restaurant director had a strong discussion with some boys in front of the restaurant (God! Why didn't we think of this man's 'skills'!) we naivly decided to enter the place.
There's no need to describe the 'good' manners of both director and waitress, who made us feel as bad as they could from the very beginning. Awful service. No more to say.
Toilets smelled so bad you could receive its 'perfume' from the table!
And food, really disappointing. The menu looked quite good outside the restaurant. But a three days sickness was a clear proof of its 'lack of quality'. Steamed mussels tasted as nothing but mussels. Tuna was greenish. And beef 'entrecot' was as hard as nails!
Desserts were ok, but visibly precooked and frozen!
On the bright side: wonderful location.
Never again!
