“As good as it looks”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

I booked this hotel as the final part of a ten day break in Barcelona and Girona, the hotel was relatively cheap and offered a location close to the city centre and old town. After arriving at Girona station via train from Barcelona it was around EUR7 in a taxi. We were checked in quickly and had the amenities of the hotel explained to us upon check in.

We were allocated three rooms just off the main foyer which caused concern as I was worried of the noise late at night and at breakfast in the mornings but the sound proofing was so good I really didn't need to worry. The hotel is finished to a high standard with cool greys and dark woods adding to the modern feel of the hotel.

Each room comes with a free mini bar full of soft drinks which are welcome after a long day exploring Girona, and during the afternoon and evening free coffee and pastries are laid on by the hotel for guests to enjoy.

The terrace is the real high point of this hotel and is a very romantic way to while away the time especially at night.

I look forward to returning to this hotel.

As we were on a road trip we chose this hotel slightly out of town for ease of parking and the possibility of great view. Signage to the hotel was good, through a tricky one way system. We ate out for all our meals as a preference. Our room was adjacent to the foyer which allowed us to access the wifi, but we had concerns about the noise of footsteps on the tiled balcony. However there was no problem and we slept very well. Book ahead for excellent prices.

My favourite hotel on a recent roadtrip round europe. Despite not being in the centre of the city, its gorgeous view and general top rate decor, service and ambience (apart from the weird chip-board roof) make it a fantastic choice for a quick - or longer stay - for Girona and exploring the surrouding area.

The hotel's main draw is not its facilities but how welcome it makes you feel. A Free soft drink mini bar awaits you in your room, and a relaxed family friendly free soft drinks in the bar with tea and coffee and donuts after midnight at the weekends make you feel this is a hotel that isn't milking you for money. You pay everything up front then enjoy your stay. The rooms are luxurious and well appointed with sleek dark bathroom fixtures and great views over the city.

The open plan reception/bar/breakfast room feels relaxed and friendly. You can get great deals on this hotel too and it feels like a real bargain. The breakfasts are also fit for a king especially if you get them included in your room rate. I am on a restricted diet but still found plenty I could eat as the range is so vast from Spanish to international food. Meats, fruit, tortilla, breads, pastries, etc.

If you're travelling with a car, the free parking is a fantastic bonus and the terrace at night is amazingly romantic.

The only thing missing from the hotel - and it REALLY is a downside for an otherwise perfect hotel - is a swimming pool, and leisure facilities generally. They have the space for a pool and in the heat of the afternoon it cries out for it. But I cannot fault the cleanliness or service of the hotel itself.

There is no free wifi in the rooms but there is free wifi in the common areas and this is usually annoying, but in this hotel the common areas are so relaxing to be in that it really is not an issue.

Room Tip: - Weekends after midnight: free soft drinks and donuts at the bar! - Visit Gala Dali Castle about 2...

We had a brief stay here on our way from Barcelona to the French Riviera with our 3yo son and didn't really know what to expect. We booked online as the hotel had good reviews. We were driving thank goodness, as the hotel is out of the city located on top of a hill, hence the magnificent views, but I wouldn't have like to lug our suitcases.

Our check-in was prompt and polite and we went to our room armed with maps and suggestions of where to go and what to do for our short stay. We had arrived during the Flower Festival which makes the city very busy but was beautiful and worth having a look at if you're here at this time of year.

The rooms were modern and reasonable but I didn't think that the finishes of the rooms were terrific and as per other reviews, soundproofing seemed to be absent. Our room looked to the side of the hotel and we had a glimpse of the view, but you really need to go to the terrace to appreciate the views of Girona.

The buffet breakfast again, was okay but not great. Choices were limited and not what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. The coffee was do-it-yourself (thanks Nespresso), which seems to be a growing trend in Europe. It's okay but not the same quality as a good barista.

Wi-Fi was only available in the lobby, something I find really annoying when you are paying 4-star prices.

Walking to the city took 10-15 minutes and was very steep on the way back. A staff member advised the quickest way to go, but we found a more direct but steeper way. It was good exercise, that's for sure.

This hotel won a trendiest hotel award with Trip Advisor and I get it, but don't really think it's worth the hype. If you were holding a function, that's a different story. The terrace is magnificent and on a hot night, would be perfect.

I like this hotel.
Do not really know why... design of the lobby maybe, location over looking Girona, the nice terrace...
Rooms are nice
BUT the sound proofing of the doors on the corridor is really poor.
Staff is very nice.
I like it.

Astonishing views in from the restaurant (specially good for a summer evening dinner).
Excellent food and waiters.
Hotel rooms are nice (nothing exceptional).
The suite has free mini-bar!!!!
A little far from city center (10-15min walk).
Worth trying!
Only disappointment: some of the pictures of the hotel show a swimming pool that doesn't exist.

Room Tip: Book a table for dinner at the hotel in summer!

We wanted a comfortable B&B hotel with a nice view of Girona at a reasonable price. We found an offer for this hotel which turned to be up to all our expectations.

First of all, the location: it's a 15 minute walk from downtown (we had a car). The view of the city from the hotel is beautiful. At night? Breathtaking! Unfortunately the hotel was built in a way that none of the rooms had a view.

Breakfast was of great, with a satisfactory variety.

The rooms were nice, I loved the modern design and colours which matched the design of the hotel, and the bathroom was great.

A few negatives concerning the room:
- sound-proof was close to zero; we could hear everything that happened outside in the halls(fortunately the hotel was not full at the time!).
- as I mentioned before, no view offered from the rooms
- the air quality of the rooms was not very good (you had to open the windows to get some air)
By the way, the bed and the pillows were great!

Nevertheless, overall, we enjoyed our stay.
