Hotel Margarit

We stayed at Pension Margarit two years ago and didn't hesitate to book again. It's close to the station and city centre, a few minutes walk to the lovely old quarter of Girona. Bags can be left in a secure cupboard at reception until it's time to catch your onward transport. The weather was much hotter this stay and our room didn't have air conditioning, only a fan. This wasn't really adequate to allow a good night's sleep so perhaps make sure you ask for air conditioning when booking. Otherwise, wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for air conditioning/a room not in the sun for too long during the day.

Pensio Margarit offers a sound basic hotel, very close to the City Centre. Rooms are basic but very clean with toilet and shower room. They have TV but only Programmes in Catalan or Spanish. It is within walking distance of the bus and train station to which the airport bus comes.

The old town is very near and the
Hotel is good for a short break . Breakfast is 8.50 € and there is a smoking area!

The one draw back is that it is noisy and there is no sitcom. Very good value fir money.

The room was small and looked out onto the narrow street behind the hotel, we did not find the room to be noisy and the aircon was quiet, The room had a recently refurbished shower and toilet,The reception staff were friendly with a good command of english. Their is a supermarket just a few yards away and the old town is a ten minute walk as is the railway station. Breakfast is buffet style with fruit, pastries and cut meats, yogurt and juice, I think it is good budget accomodation for a one or two nights and would stay again.

Good location close to old town and to the station. Friendly staff, though didn't have much tourist information about restaurants or maps. Basic room, clean, bright. Good wifi. No toiletries except for soap.

Bed was made up with some sort of mattress protector which squeaked every time my husband rolled over, like walking on styrofoam, so not good for sleeping. Otherwise, bed was very comfortable. Room was very very hot and we had to open window to keep room cool, but couldn't leave window open at night because of traffic outside. Didn't have a car so can't comment about parking. There is a lift.

Breakfast is 8.50 euro, and is very good value compared to other accommodations, with good range of cereal, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, cheese, cold meats, toast and jams, croissants. Decaf coffee was only Nescafe.

Check out is not till 12, so this is good if you want to leave late.

The worst problem was the noise. The walls are obviously very thin as we could hear every person in the corridor, plus all the noises from the next door room, especially when the couple there began to have sex at 4 in the morning. Not very pleasant. So even though this was a good property in terms of location, cleanliness and value for money, I would not stay here again.

Best price/quality ratio. Good situation, kind and friendly sign in. Rooms are smooth, clean and familiar. Old town and river just next to you. Nice.
Airport is quote far and its a bit surprise to pay 35e about that. Well, poor man never make trips abroad.;)

A basic but clean hotel. Ideally situated for both the city and the transport links. A five - ten minute walk from the bus/train station, and the same into the heart of girona's sights and restaurants.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They let us check in, put our bags in the room, and get the room key even though the room wasn't ready yet (we were in a hurry to catch a train to Figurres).
They were helpful in explaining how to get places.
The rooms were clean and a nice size; the bathroom clean and spacious.
