Walking across the Eiffel's red bridge from Rambla de la Llibertat, admiring the beautiful dance of coloured reflections in the river below the Onyar houses, a beautiful selection of glass items come into view in a shop window just at the end of the steps. This shop is called nou taller de vidre, which means nou glass workshop in Catalan, is an amazing creative space dedicated to local crafts specialising in glass making.
Girona is a magical and culturally rich place, a joy to spend time in especially after the busy experience of Barcelona. Everything in nou taller de vidre is individually made by local artists creating original, unique pieces from contemporary jewelery, glassware, and glass pictures to a selection of textile items too. You even have the opportunity to see the two artists at work, melting the crystal glass with the torch, which is amazing to see.
A great place to buy a true hand-crafted souvenir, a memory of this creatively inspiring place. It is definately worth the visit!!
