I had no idea that so much history could be compacted into such a small geographical area within a city. it is well worth reading up and being informed about this precinct so that the streets and names resonate as you walk along them

At night lost in the winding streets, discovering an out of the way restaurant, along on endless steps one gets a feel for what it must have been like at one time.

I loved the many little walkways and the buildings were very well maintained. I found everyone in the shops to be very friendly and there were lots of smaller, out of the way places to eat too. The Jewish Museum was well worth a visit and had a beautiful little courtyard at the back.

So much nicer than Barcelona's Gothic Quarter and although there are lots of shops and restaurants it is far less 'tacky'. We loved it. The Jewish Museum is worth visiting and we discovered that on the first Sunday in each month admission is free to everyone.
