Right in the centre of Girona's old town with perfect access to the main sights. The apartment is small but cleverly designed to make best use of the space. Bonuses are free internet access and the terrace kitchen/dining area with views along the river . David, the owner, lives below.
The entrance stairway is narrrow and steep - part of the charm of living in a historic location but probably not advisable for anyone with limited mobility.

Very helpfu linfomation from the owner prior to departure and he was also friendly and genuine.
This accommodation (Gerona Riverside "A") is perfectly set in the historic centre of Girona and has superb views over the river. Although the stairwell and lobby are rather dingy and unpromising, the apartment itself is light and airy. It would be ideal for people without transport as you have all the amenities close to hand (supermarket 5 mins, train and bus station 15 mins on foot, historic sights right on the doorstep.
The bed was comfortable and the linen and apartment in general were clean, though the two-ring cooker could be cleaner. If you are a party of more than two, you should be aware that there is only a flimsy screen between the bedroom and the living quarters (where the bed/settee is situated) and that there is an open doorway (that is, no door) between the two. I hope the owner will improve the quality of cutlery and crockery soon. It should not be difficult to acquire a quartet of cheap but functional glasses, cups and plates etc to replace the random, and sometimes imperfect, selection we found there. Be wary of the shower base - it is rather slippery.
Despite these reservations (most of which could easily be remedied), I have to say that we had a most memorable stay there. You can just sit there overlooking the river watching life pass by across the several bridges you can see. Were it not for the criticisms made, I would have given this place 4 stars. I doubt whether there is a better location anywhere in Girona.

My wife and I opted to spend some time in Spain this past summer, and after searching through endless vacation rental options in Galicia, Asturias, Navarra, and the Costa Brava, we settled on a week in Girona. It turned out to be a great decision. We arrived easily enough from Barcelona (though you can fly directly into Girona) and found the apartment in the Barri Vell (old quarter) without much trouble.
Girona is a wonderful city, somewhat off the beaten path, with proximity to the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees as well (we visited both after). Stil, we really enjoyed getting to know the city itself. We were there during a festival of music, and there were concerts (classical and otherwise) a few times a week. We also took advantage of the great cycling tourism program the government has been promoting by renting bikes and cycling back from Olot (you get spoiled by cycling downhill pretty much the whole way, but for more hardcore cyclists there are myriad options).
The apartment itself is quite comfortable, and substantially better than a hotel for these reasons: 1) it is located perfectly in the old quarter, 2) you have your own kitchen so you do not have to eat out at every meal (though you can if you want, there are plenty of great options), and 3) you get to imagine what it would be like to live in this beautiful city, as you have an apartment just like the locals, right on the river. The view was amazingly picturesque and relaxing. The bed was comfortable, and in general the place had a pretty homey feel to it. David (the owner) lives downstairs and was very friendly and helpful.
We would rent this place again.

When planning our trip to Girona, we wanted a comfortable self-catering apartment in a convenient location. We spent four nights at Girona Riverside Apartment A in June 2011 and it was exactly what we wanted: The apartment was quiet, relaxing, and affordable and the perfect base for exploring the city.
Down the stairs and out the front door puts you on Carrer de les Ballesteries, a pedestrian-friendly lane in the heart of the old town and just a short stroll from the cathedrals, museums, ancient walls, and historic sites, with cafes, shops, bars, and restaurants around every turn.
Girona Riverside Apartment A is large, clean, and sunny, with a great view out over the river from the kitchen. The bed was very large (king size?) and comfortable and--since the apartment faces the river rather than the street--we were not bothered by noise. The bathroom and shower were large (by holiday apartment standards) and well appointed. The host, David, is as helpful and available as you need, but is unobtrusive if you want peace and quiet.
The apartment is perfect for a couple, but there is also a sofa bed for two more guests. Staying at Girona Riverside was like having our own apartment in the heart of the old town and we can't wait to return.
