“Good place for over-night stays”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 24, 2012

This is a very clean Ibis hotel. We have stayed there at least 4 times and it's been just as clean every time. For some it might be a bit too far from the city centre, but it is actully only about 20 minutes easy walking away. Parking is easy, but if you want a place just outside the entrance (and inside the barrier) you need to be there quite early. The Ibis Budget (former Etap) is next door if you prefer the cheaper alternative, but as we paid only €50 for the regular Ibis, we are not complaining.

The price is good, paid 59 euros for 1 night double room, but don' t expect more than what you pay. Basic room, basic service, no atmosphere. If you just need a cheap, clean and convenient place to stay in Girona, this is your hotel. Wifi free. Convenient parking too.

Stayed here for 1 night before an early ryanair flight, walked from train stn, 30 min approx. Room was lovely & clean, great powerful shower, had a drink at the bar, which was ok, explored the town & had dinner in there, very nice historical place. Got a taxi back that night 5 euro which wasn't bad, hotel called taxi next morn at 04.30 which was 29.65 euro to airport, seems expensive for a 15km journey which took 15 min.

For a cheap stay not too far from the city it is "ok" value for the price you pay, give the restaurant a miss as there is better not too far away.
The staff dont speak much english so please be aware before embarrassing yourself by shouting english slowly at them like some tourists i overheard!

Room Tip: Dont book the budget by mistake!!!

I paid a cheap rate for a room but paid for it wih the extras.. €11 taxi from the train station €5 for 24 hour wifi access, €15 for buffet style dinner with cold poor quality food. Needless to say I wasn't impressed. Staff were unwilling/unable to speak either English or French, I asked a waiter five times for a drink with dinner but gave up in the end.

Room Tip: I stayed on third floor could hear traffic through window

My TomTom took me straight to the barrier of the car park. I walked into the hotel, I told the reception I had a reservation and after checking her computer she told me I was at the wrong Ibis Hotel, they were the Budget Ibis and I wanted the Ibis Hotel next door. I asked how far it was and she said "Not Far', I went out of the automatic doors, turned left and in through another pair of automatic doors only to be met by the same girl who said, "Welcome to the Ibis can I help you", I nearly wet myself laughing. Two hotel with adjoining receptions and the same receptionist. What a joke.

Just got back from a 5-night stay at the Ibis Hotel, Girona. The Ibis is actually 2 hotels in one - the Ibis Budget, which is more like a hostel and appears to be used mainly by backpackers, and the Ibis Hotel, which we stayed in, which is a one-star hotel, although I would rate it higher. When you book, you need to make it clear which bit you want to stay in! We didn't see the Budget rooms, but our room was very clean and modern, if a bit on the small side. The air conditioning was the best ever! The bathroom only had a shower - no bath - but everything worked really well. There weren't any toiletries, apart from liquid soap, but you don't really expect things like this in a one-star hotel. There was plenty of parking at the hotel, although I did see a sign saying that you had to pay 5 euro's a day for it. We didn't have a car, so can't confirm this. The breakfast buffet was as good as in most 3-star hotels (although the coffee machine was quite temperamental!). They also do an evening buffet for 15 euro's per person, but this didn't look very exciting. The hotel is a bit outside the city centre, but we walked to and from the Old Town every day without any problems. The first part of the walk isn't particularly nice (down the main road and past the hospital) but the second part is very scenic, alongside the river. I thought the best thing about the hotel was the fact that the area around it is quite green so, unlike many hotels in the city centre, you aren't staring at a brick wall. There is even a tiny garden round the back that you can sit in, although I don't think many people realise it's there! All in all, a good hotel for those on budget and I would stay there again. (Contact for tips on how to get there without a car!)

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 26 - really quiet and looked out onto the aforementioned garden area.
