On a Monday night the restaurant was empty, except two other tables. The starter of goats cheese salad was very nice, the salmon was average. For main dishes the seafood paella was burnt and contained minimal seafood. The steak was of a texture I had not experienced before - I'm glad I asked for peppercorn sauce to be separate, I think it was about to get a skin on top. The mushrooms and potatoes accompanying it were drenched in oil. Sorry, the restaurant looks nice but that's about it.

Found this restaurant by chance and by looking for one that was catering to the local market as well, inevitably in central Barcelona, to some tourists such as us.
I was surprised to see other reviews complaining of the service, for us it was excellent -both attentive and courteous. The food was very good and the table wine by the glass better than average. The bottle was left on the table for us to help ourselves and we were undercharged.
Extremely good value and well worth a visit.

We rediscovered this restaurant on our wanders through the old town and had two meals there. The building is connected with a famous Catalan playwright and poet and has an interesting display of memorabilia upstairs.

Although the baby goat ribs were disappointing, being rather chewy and lacking meat, the duck confit in pastry with apple and duck breast with wild mushrooms and chestnuts were both excellent.

Being adventurous we tried the violet and green tea ice creams in chocolate ‘lampshades’ (coated biscuit cups) which we enjoyed, although our favourites were the absolutely delicious Tarte Tatin with Calvados (plenty of it), and the orange mousse cake with passion fruit cream.

We found the waiters very friendly and helpful and will definitely go back there on our next trip to Barcelona.

Went to Pitarra because I saw the Michelin guides recommendation, and must say it lived up to all expectations..
Excellent service, fantastic place with a special atmosphere and the food was tasty and fresh. We tried the special of the day which was lamb, and it was cooked to perfection. Wines are fairly priced, and the waiter was really helpful to find something suitable for our meal.
I even got a tour around in the rest of the restaurant, to see the private diningroom etc.
We had 3 courses each + cava and redwine and ended up with a bill for less than 100 euro.
