Dining options: Breakfast, Late Night, Reservations
Neighborhood: Eixample
Description: Chamonix is in Barcelona's Eixample district. Its classical décor with dark wood-panelled walls, pictures and armchairs all help to make Chamonix an established location where diners can enjoy the best traditional dishes. The extensive menu offers dishes such as Jabugo cured ham, octopus with potato puree or glazed anchovies, not forgetting the house speciality, seafood noodles (fideua). Chamonix also offers a tasting menu and a long wine list.

“A one time great, Maybe?”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

I, like a lot of the other reviewers, went to this restaurant after buying a voucher from a discount page.
The web page offered over a 50% discount which appeared to make it a very good deal, at least something to try. Never again.
If the real price for the meal was over 40 euro, they will be out of business in no time as they will not get anybody through the doors.
The wine and the service were good unlike the experiences of others. 2 bad points were the starter 'Glaseado de anchoas' which seemed to lack anchoas and the dessert, poor, poor, poor. 40 euro for that? I'm sorry but it's a scam. There are so many other restaurants in this area where you will get better quality and cheaper.
Don't bother with this place, I'm sure it was, at one time, a good place to eat but it has lost whatever it had many years ago. Time to reiinvent the place

“Don't go there unless you want to be treated badly.”
Reviewed April 27, 2012

The food was acceptable but we all left with a bad feeling because of the rude treatment we got there. They were asking to clear the plates while we were still eating, repeatedly asked to take away the glasses while we were still having wine. At 23:10 (very early for Spain) we got presented with the bill, they turned on the AC and 2 minutes later the waitress impolitely asked if we would pay cash or by card. When we said we wanted to finish our wine and asked whether they needed us to go. She said: "The sooner we can all go home the better." After that she put the AC on full power blowing on our heads with a violent and rude gesture. When we wanted to complain we just got a load more of abuse. UNBELIEVABLE. This country is in a crisis and this kind of people still have a job ... really?

“An underrated gem...”
Reviewed February 17, 2011

Despite some misgivings after reading TripAdvisor reviews, given it was Mobile World Congress week in Barcelona, even the simpler spots were booked-up well in advance.
This turned out to be a genuinely wonderful little surprise.
Linen, decent china & simple glassware. Wood-panelling & a menu that while short, offered the typical highlights of any Catalan experience.
The starters of Jamon Iberico et al were generous, fresh & well-priced. The wine list, again, short but not expensive and well-chosen. The only area for improvement was the over-simplicity of the main courses; they could have done with a few veggies but otherwise, quality was a good.
This will be on my must-visit list next time I'm in town.
