“Good atmosphere very bad robusta coffee”
Reviewed June 2, 2013 via mobile

The place is really nice, we were lucky to get a place ehen we arrived since all other tables were booked. The food was very good althogh in tiny portions abd the staff was very friendly. The coffee though was very bad, it was my biggest disappointment, it was clearly a comercial robusta. They could have whole wheat bread too, it would make a big difference.

“Perfect brunch”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. It gets quite busy so you might have to wait.
We had some really good eggs benedict & pancakes (must have). The service was extremely fast. We didn't wait for more than 10 minutes for our food to arrive, even though the place was packed.
Go for it.

“Five star standards!”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

I went to this restaurant twice (including the last night of my holiday) because it was so amazing.

I recommend that you book because it can get busy - we booked for 8pm the first time though forgetting that this is very early for Barcelona. We made our own fun though :-). The second time we went we booked it for 9pm on a Friday and it got busy around 9.30/10 because it was someones leaving party. It made for such a good atmosphere sat right next to the kitchen seeing the chef cook up his masterpieces. The plates come in large tapas style (raciones?)

The first night we ordered the fried green tomatoes with feta (gorgeous), steak with parmesan truffled chips (mouthwatering), calamari with chickpeas, the mediterranean flatbread, and Thai fishcakes. This with a bottle of rioja, dessert and water came to around 60 Euros between us (but we gave a nice tip)

The second time we had the tomatoes and steak again - they were that good, with kangaroo and cilantro falafel - really tasty, a special of the day salad which came with roasted peanuts in a Vietnamese style, and an antipasti for one (beware it's BIG!, so maybe order this first if you want good value). Followed up with dessert and had 3 beers, a bottle of rioja and a couple of sangrias. Total, even when we included a 10% tip (not expected in Spain, but we're used to doing that in the UK especially when the service is good), came to 80 Euros between the two of us. For the standard of food you get here it's a bargain!

It's not just the food though, the service was impeccable, and we had a lovely waitress who spoke perfect English (I'm ashamed that my Spanish/Catalan is very limited), and took time to advise us what to have, and the restaurant itself is clean and modern.

I would go back to Barcelona in a heartbeat for this place..

“Delicious brunch”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

We had read some great reviews and dropped into Picnic. It was sunny and May Day, and Picnic was vey busy. It didn't take long to get a table, and we ordered a mix of delicious, unusual dishes. Very tasty, good value, nice location and excellent service. Definitely worth a visit. .

“Best brunch in BCN!”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

This place is always packed and there's a simple explanation - the food is great (especially the eggs benedict and fried green tomatoes) and the Bloody Marys are fabulous. Without question the best spot for brunch in Barcelona (which is why you may want to book as it can be quite tricky to get a table - especially at weekends).
