Being a vegan couple we were excited to go to this restaurant, however upon arrival it went downhill. We didnt have a booking, and were told in a rude and off-ish manner that we would have to wait a long time or sit on the tall barstools situated at the front. We didnt want to wait ages so we opted for the barstools... we should have known from the waiter's energy that we should have eaten elsewhere.
After being seated we ordered our meal, both VEGAN options, and CLEARLY stated that we were both vegan a couple of times (as its better to be safe than sorry)... Unfortunately for us though, the waiter was more interested in the American woman that was there by herself reading a book and relaxing. After at least 25/30 mins our meals arrived... My fiancee's meal was good, the baked cauliflower... but my meal had CHEESE all over it... I was not happy at all, and the waiter acknowledged it was clearly his mistake. I asked for the dish that my fiancee had to take-away as we were in a rush now, and I didnt want them to just take of the cheese and re-present the same dish, but was told it had 'sold out'... hmmmmm. We had an appointment to made so I couldn't wait another 30mins for the meal to be prepared again, not only that but the waiter just wasnt sincere nor did he really care.
The worst part though was having to watch him 'chat-up' the clearly non-interested woman on the table next to us (we moved to a seated table at the front when we saw someone leave)... to the point where she made an very awkward and hasty exit. It was cringe-worthy to say the least, but I wouldnt have cared if it didnt affect his ability to do his job properly.
It was a terrible experience, from the greeting all the way to us leaving. The only plus was the baked cauliflower... which we happen to make quite frequently at home, it did taste good though.
I feel as if I wasnt a young black guy then we wouldnt have been treated in that way, OR the waiter would have tried to compensate us or make amends for his behavior and lack of care causing me to not eat. I only say this as you could see the waiter's demenour change depending on the 'look' of the customers that entered (we were right at the front talking about this most of our time there).
