This was directly across from our hotel and was well rated also in Lonely Planet. NOTE: we did not eat here, but we walked in and observed its popularity. Large room in back, so bigger than you first think. Nice looking tapas laid out on bar. It was busy, and loud, and all were speaking Spanish (which we only knew poquito and did not have a mastery of), so we left. Seems definitely worth trying.

Got recommendations about this place from a guy who lives in barcelona - "a great place with a lot of locals". And how true. We were the only ones not speaking Spanish(except for an American girl on a date. I think the date went well) and it was almost the feeling that it silenced down when we entered...

The tapas were great, new ones coming out at moderate speed and the staff shouting out what variety that was delivered from the kitchen. Cold tapas was constantly on the counter and the warm ones was served from trays by the staff and then put aside so you could pick yourself.

Tha cava was fairly cheap(and good) and we ate like there was no tomorrow. Still the check was about €40-45 (approx. $50-58) incl one bottle of cava and a beer.

And also, we were recommended just to eat the tapas there, by the bar and not to eat in the restaurant due to prices and value was far better with the tapas/bar-set up.

By way of a friend's recommendation, we were so excited to try Taktika Berri. He told us to arrive at 8:15 as the restaurant opens at 8:30 and to sit at the bar. We did exactly that and there were at least 25 people ahead of us in line. We did not get seats at the bar, but instead at two stools opposite of the bar. There was little room to get up to the bar to ask the bartender for plates/drinks, and even then, he did not pay attention even when spoken to in Spanish. You have to reach over people sitting at the bar to get food and people are reaching over you to get to the bar. It was also sweltering in the restaurant due to the amount of people in a confined space. We left as we knew we were not going to enjoy the meal as good as the food may be.

Two different visits to the city and everyone of my friends gets pointed this way. Traditional Basque tapas. Locals pack this place. I recommend arriving by 8:45, any later and you start missing out on the best bits!
