We came here for coffee and sweets. Unfortunately, the sweets tasted stale and we just weren't impressed. It is a darling little shop, but the quality isn't as good as other places in Barcelona

Try it!

We walked by and then went on a long hunt to try to find it again but the hunt was worth it. Wonderful menu and quite unique. Regretfully we didn't have time to visit again later when the basement was open.

Essentially this is a tea or coffee shop . What makes it stand out is the quality of its products - and these are made by monks and nuns. The staff are always pleasant and the cafe scrupulously clean. The only problem I have with Caelum is that at times there are so many customers that it is uncomfortable, But the wait is always worth it and once seated one forgets the queuing and savours the experience of ordering and eating the wonderful cakes and drinking excellent teas and coffees.

We came here for a little afternoon treat and break after exploring the Gothic quarter in Barcelona. The cakes were exquisite and had a homemade feel to them. The thick hot chocolate was lovely and rich. Nice decor with the cobbled brick walls and fairy lights. Great service too. Please note they don't take card so keep cash handy when you visit.

A delightful and quaint little tea shop in the Barri Gothic, with an impressive selection of pastries that beacon from the window. We wolfed down a walnut and apricot tart, as well as a Catalan Crème tart. Superb coffee! A nice selection of traditional sweets for sale in the shop as well.
