The ambience here is amazing. A room full of small wooden tables, dirty floor, cobweb covered bottles truly reflecting its 200 years. If it wasn't for the chandelier I would mistake it for an old saloon bar. I have never had traditional absinthe before so it was an experience for me. Did we have 2 drinks? No. A little hard to find, worth it for an after dinner drink. It does not open till 11pm, gets busy about 1:30am.

Very Old Absinthe Bar. it is a special ambient where you can enjoy the absinthe not easy to find but with little orientation can be found near Las Ramblas. Had nice time. Recommend to everybody

Is it possible to make a bar out of a wooden, shabby, dirty room with some cobweb-covered bottles on a shelf and call it a genuine absinthe bar ? In Barcelona, it does work. It even gained fame. I guess many tourist are young and simply naive.
Being an absinthe connoisseur myself, I went there with some expectations and was cruelly disappointed. To my question "what kind of absinthe do you serve here ?" the barman sulkily answered "from the house". It was quite believeable actually, since he poured it from a glamorous carafe... Bad luck, I saw the absinthe came from commercially sold bottles of the "Absente" brand, a disgusting anise-based counterfeit that doesn't even deserve the name of pastis, not to mention absinthe. Don't ever enter there if you have a minimum of respect for yourself.
To my knowledge, there is no real absinthe available in Barcelona. There is thorough information on Internet about this fantastic drink, which is neither toxic nor longer forbidden. Get informed (do read reviews about different brands), order and have a great time.
