I speak the worst Spanglish ever. We walked in as the only Americans in the joint, so intimidated and just stared at the menu for a solid 3 minutes.

After looking confused, a nice man came up and asked what we were in the mood for, sandwich or small plates... We said tapas so he showed us how the menu is split between Hot and cold.

We ordered the variety plate... BEST CHOICE! So many nuggets of sausage !! We also got the croquettes and 4 glasses of rose! (each glass is a euro)!

In short, If you want to have some fun out of your comfort zone, and save serious money... Eat the tapas here! Great quality food and It's cheap!

This place is just as much about the experience as it is the food and cava! The cheapest cava you will find, combined with the rolls filled with great quality ingredients (food is essential to buy a bottle), along with the extremely bustling atmosphere, make this a 'must visit' when in Barcelona. Expect to have zero personal space and the staff to speak zero English, but bizarrely this makes for a great experience! There are a few tourists, but in general it is full (and I mean full!) of locals. When we visited, none of the bars down this road had anyone in, but Can Paixano had a queue to get in at 3pm!

Ridiculously cheap as well! Don't be put off by a little pushing and shoving to get in, it is well worth it.

We went in here for a few drinks and some tapas one evening. You'd walk straight past the door if you didn't know it was there so use google maps... it's worth finding. You just need to get someone's attention behind the counter and yell for what you want over the noise of the huge amount of people crammed into the tiny space, but you get nice cava and lovely tapas very cheaply! No seating, standing room only, certainly in the evenings. If you get there before 5pm you can order cava by the bottle, but after 5 it's only by the glass. Definitely not touristy although you get the odd few who've found the reviews and ventured in. Loved it :-)

This small, crowded hole in the wall Cava bar is an amazing place to spend some time with friends. Share some of the cheap, simple but delicious tapas and a bottle of Cava.

We visited as a group of 5 sharing some simple Spanish cheese, Iberian ham and some chorizo. Delicious! We saw others tucking into the cheap sandwiches and plates of mixed sausage. The energy and vibe of the place was buzzing. The Cava was served cold and ranged from 5.10 euros to 6.20 euros depending on whether you went for pink, brut, demi sec etc. We polished off two bottles of the Brut extra which was amazing. Strangely the Cava is only served in bottles till 5pm after this is glasses only which increases the price as the glasses only hold 75-100 ml and the price per glass is 1.05 - 1.20 euros. Still pretty amazing value.

Don't expect comfort or high quality food. This place is all about simple tapas, cold Cava and feeling the buzz and vibrancy of Spanish / Catalan culture at it's very best. Would I return? Definitely! Each and every time I'm in Barcelona it's not a sure fire stop off.

Very authentic completely unpretentious bar. Standing room only, very crowded but with excellent cheap rose cava. We bought two bottles to take away...Point at food and shout. Disgusting toilets but.....
