“Good but not value for money”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

The atmosphere in the restaurant is fab and staff very friendly, but the dinner experience was still missing something.
We had the 7 course surprise menu with wine pairings and choosing the pairings was clearly a mistake. The sommelier poured appr. 4-5cl portions of wine which means only a good mouthful. So we sat in the table with nothing to drink most of the time and had to ask for a water for several times.
The food was interesting and some of them very innovative, but after reading the reviews we had expected more. Some courses were surprisingy traditional and some were even quite tasteless.
There were plenty of snacks and pre/post desserts, the dessert section being even a bit too much since we left the restaurant high on sugar and walked straight to a super market to buy water since we were so thirsty.
If the price had been relatively lower I would have given four stars, but now we strongly felt this was not a value for money experience.

“Probably the best meal we have ever eaten”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

We had the smaller tasting menu, and it was huge -5 appetizers, bread, 6 mains, a huge cheese course, 4 desserts and 4 petit fours. I don't know who could ever manage to eat the larger tasting menu. We had let them know our dietary restrictions when we reserved, and they were very accommodating. There wasn't a bad choice on the menu, most courses were delicious, but a few were extra-special. Don't miss the sardines, the whiting, the lemon ice tea dessert or the oval chocolate dessert you eat in one bite because there is a surprise inside. They explained every course, answering our questions before each course, but even more thoroughly after as they didn't want to spoil the surprise as we discovered each taste. Service was efficient and caring without being officious. They were concerned we didn't eat more cheese, but we were so full. It is pricy, but not for the quality and quantity. They seemed quite happy for people to order from the menu a la carte and the wine by the glass was quite reasonable. We reserved on line a week in advance and were supposed to sit at the bar as no tables were available, so were surprised when we arrived to be seated at a table, although there were a number of people at the bar. Several tables were empty when we left at 10:30, so it is may be worth trying to book at the last minute. Restaurant does not open it's doors until the official opening time of 8:30.

“Sublime culinary journey”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

Go on a gastronomic discovery journey, led by Carles Abellan, a disciple of El Bulli. The (Grand) Festival menu is the best way to experience the many surprises.
Very knowlegable and polite staff, delicious food
Only some loud Americans sitting at the table behind us spoiled the experience a bit.

“lovely tasting menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

We had an "early" reservation for 8:30, right when the restaurant opened. We sat at the bar and had the smaller tasting menu. We loved the creative dishes, all of which were completely delicious. Trust the kitchen and let them surprise you. They also had a great selection of wines by the glass, with many Spanish gems. The sommelier was very helpful in pointing out wines that would pair well with the food. Only downsides, it's not in a very scenic location and it's a bit on the pricey side. But, for the quality you're getting, it's not outrageous.

“Great food, great experience, but a bit pricy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

I recently dined at this restaurant with two friends. We all took the festival tasting menu. We tasted 7 different tapas, 5 snacks (actually tapas), 5 desserts, and 4 snack desserts. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The service was also great. We really enjoyed it. The only downside is that this is a pricy restaurant, especially the wines.
