This is a top bang for your buck. Great location, just half a block from fashionable passeig de gracia, where most of the luxury stores and hotels are. Standard rooms are a bit on the small size but otherwise great.

I liked the rooms and the location a lot. This is a very well kept hotel - not very cheap but the quality was very good.
Everything was clean and nice, and i liked the details like Molton Brown toiletries etc. The decor of the room is teh standard Euro-almost-luxury stuff, nothing suprising, but nothing problematic.
Apart from the staff at the bar being slightly slow (but this is Spain!), i have not encountered anything negative and would recommend it.

  • Liked — nice, quiet rooms. central location
  • Disliked — a bit slow staff at the bar

A lovely boutique hotel, not right in the heart of all the bustle but close enough. Close to a wonderful tapas restaurant: La Bodegueta.

Chose this hotel after seeing a review of it in a magazine , and certainly the location and decor can't be faulted . Modern , minimalistic style , simple and yet luxurious . Room was lovely , but small , though I suspect this is the case with many of the central hotels .Bathroom stylish , but shower not as powerful as you would expect from a recently refurbished hotel . That said , beautiful basin, Molton brown toiletries , lovely fluffy towelling robes and slippers , plenty of towels. nice flat screen tv in room etc . 2 minutes walk from the Diagonal metro station , and on a tree- lined street with plenty of outdoor cafes . Staff pleasant and helpful when asked , silent otherwise ! Had an excellent meal in the restaurant , a little pricey , but the service was perfect , and food good . Reasonable portions but not for those with a hearty appetite!
Great location for a pleasant walk to all the central attractions , including La Rambla ( main street) . had a" Barcelona card "which covered all travel for the trip , including train from the airport to the city centre . Also gives small discounts on some attractions . definitely saves money if you are planning on covering a lot of ground , but probably not worth it for only a day . 3 day one definitely good value .

Final note - BEWARE PICKPOCKETS ! My bag was stolen from by my feet in a restaurant , and the police station was full of people who had suffered the same fate . Obviously this is a problem in most cities , but it is certainly rife in Barcelona , and I have since spoken to countless other people who have had bags and wallets stolen there - it certainly seems to have a much higher level of pickpocketing/ mugging then any other City i have visited.
Would definitely stay here again - but double check your room request - I requested a kingsize bed on booking several weeks in advance , but was still given twin beds , and was unable to switch as hotel fully booked .

  • Liked — Decor and Location
  • Disliked — Size of room and beds that kept parting in the middle!

Dear p_c37,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in Trip Advisor.
We are glad to know that you enjoyed your stay with us: decoration designed by Kelly Hoopen, our privilage location in the middle of the city but in an Eixample area, our staff is always ready to answer your questions, the restaurant The Passatge With the mediterranean style, and all the small details.
Regarding to the problem of the pickpockets, we usually advise all our customers in which zones they have to be more carefully even so Barcelona is working on it in order to solve this problem.
We always try to please the requests of our customers, but sometimes it is impossible, we are sorry about it.
It was a pleasure to have you here with us,
Waiting to welcome you again in Barcelona,
Kind regards,

Wonderful location, nice rooms, good value for the money.

Wonderful location: in an upper class neighborhood, walking distance to Gaudi's buildings, Barri Gothic, and El Born. Near low key fine dining (read the nytimes.com travel article on creative plates at a good price), breakfast is easy -- go next door to Cafe Mauri (a Barcelona institution for locals)

Nice rooms: brand new, real queen size beds (not the 2 beds pushed together you tend to find in Europe), nice furniture (not the cheap stuff that you find in the budget modern hotels).

Only negative comments:
The bathroom could have had better ventilation, a musty smell bothered my wife.

The hotel is new and lacks the concierge team with connections to get you into places that are difficult to reserve.

  • Liked — location, quality, price
  • Disliked — no concierge with connections

Came to Europe with my wife and spent 4 nights at the Murmuri. This is a fantastic hotel. Nice decor and great service which, for us leaving in Bangkok, means a lot.

The quality of the fabrics, the sheets in the bed, the lighting with different ambiance, the overall atmosphere is relaxing and fresh.
The service is also excellent from the reception to the maids, the bar and the restaurant. Everything was perfect. We were happy to hear that the famous thai chef Ian Kittichai took over the cuisine of the restaurant which is a subtile mix between mediterranean food and asian cuisine. You have to try it if you get a chance to have a table.
We had great recommendation for dining out from the reception and located on Rambla de Catalunya, you have a lot to do around.
Location is perfect, not right on the Barcelona buzz of the Ramblas but not far either (10 minutes walk). You do not want to stay there anyway. The location of the Murmuri is far more better, next to the prestigious and elegant Paseo de Gracia and next to some famous Gaudi houses.

Our trip to Barcelona was great but our stay at the Murmuri made it fantastic. Stay there!!!

Starting in April 2008 we booked 15 rooms at the Hotel Mur Muri in September for a 4 night stay for 30 people on an Incentive Trip. From the very first moment until check out I have not had one problem with the service provided by this hotel and in fact it leaves many of its competitors far behind: To summarise:

The Hotel: The hotel is a newly opened boutique hotel that offers a real and viable alternative to any 5 Star Hotel in Barcelona and with its elegant styling and modern conveniences set out throughout it goes well beyond many expectations that you may have.

The Staff: Impeccable is probably the easiest way to describe them, on hand 24/7 to ensure that your stay is what it is meant to be, perfection, front of house, bar and restaurant, cleaning staff and management were all great throughout the stay.

The Service: We had 30 people all wanting different things from Barcelona during their stay and the service that the Hotel Mur Muri provided ensured that these expectations were delivered.

The Restaurant: We had meals here on two of the nights and also breakfast every morning during the stay, excellent cuisine that is of the same standard of what has been set out above.

The Bar: Class, World Class, brilliant service and great drinks.

The Rooms: Designed with both flair and intelligence, simple touches such as the I-POD docking stations made for a great stay. On departing many of the Guests commented on wanting to bring the bed and pillows home with them as they were so comfortable.

The Location: Ideal, close to everything but set in a calm street with little or no noise pollution

I have organised many incentive trips for many people but the Hotel Mur Muri will set the standard for many years to come, brilliant service with the right attitude.

Thanks to all the Staff at the Mur Muri, Edouard the General Manager and Raul the Group Sales Manager, you all should be very proud of what you have achieved.

Recommendation: I recommend if you are in Barcelona that you don’t miss this Gem
