This is a popular restaurant with value for money dishes. The decor is terrible - there's a little bit of everything and it's all terribly dated (waiters included). The house wine was good and amazingly cheap. Portions are large - I ordered a salad starter which was big enough for four. The food is actually quite good but is served in a style reminiscent of the sixties. Having said that, we actually ate here on two occasions (once because we were caught out by the rain). The food was more than satisfactory but the place is devoid of atmosphere.

Easy going Italian restaurant with helpful wait staff and excellent thin crust pizza. We also had the spaghetti carbonara which was delicious; especially the pasta.

We joined the queue for this restaurant as we fancied something other than tapas. It is a very busy place and obviously popular with tourists, although there was also a fair amount of locals. The service is fine, the waiters seem to be rushed off their feet. My husband seemed to wait an age for his pizza to arrive, but said it was well worth wait and my spaghetti was good. Certainly not a bad place if you just fancy a good pizza.

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews of this restaurant (which is actually called La Perla Nera, not La Perla Negra) as I have been a number of times and always enjoyed the food. Perhaps its identity crisis (pizzeria, Italian restaurant, restaurant with Italian dishes) colours people's expectations? I find the service perfectly acceptable and the staff can be friendly and helpful once you've been there a few times and they recognise you. And sometimes it seems to be just too busy for its own good. They could hardly get any more staff in, though, unless they take some of the tables out....

On occasions, I just have a pizza or calzone (baked in a pizza oven in view of the diners), perhaps with a salad, but starters, fish and meat dishes and desserts are also available to order.

For me, the best dish is the mixed, fried seafood. This sounds nothing special on the menu but, for less than 20 euros, you get three or four king prawns, a couple of whole crayfish, lots of tender squid rings and, best of all, two crab croquettes, all served on a bed of lettuce in a huge, ceramic shell.

Wine is available in half bottles and bottles. Draught and bottled beers are also served.

The service was terrible, I would never go back there! The waiter was really rude and the pizza was just OK.
