“Great view. Great food.”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

After a day of sightseeing , we were tired and hungry. Having walked by several restaurants in Barceloneta beach and checking their menus we decided on Cavamar because of the view and the wonderful greeting we received. The staff immediately sprung into action prompted the head waiter who had things under control. We ordered drinks and because we were hungry skipped on the entrees and went straight for the main dish. I ordered Almond encrusted tuna with basmati rice and a type of salad with honey dressing. My husband had the fish plate. To say my tuna was delicious was an understatement. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The rice was simple basmati but did not take away from the flavour of the fish. The salad was more of a plate decoration that I ate anyway. My husband's fish plate generously consisted of four types of fish and came with a salad we both shared. We also shared a brownie dessert with ice cream and finished off with cafe con leché. It was a wonderful way to end our day.

“avoid cavamar”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

Staff is not polite, apart from the girl that walks you in.
Food is terrible, so you should avoid this area, because we were in a restaurant near by, and it was awful too. We were waiting 55 min for paella, which was burnt, so we walked away.
Barcelonetta area is bad food choice, so if you want to eat samethnig good, go to city centre

“Decent after a walk on the boardwalk”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

We looked at many of the open air places along the Barcenoleta boardwalk and chose CavaMar based on the menu. Caprese salad was very good and the Goat Cheese on spinach salad was a nice change after a few days of tapas and non-leafy greens. Sea Bass with clams, tomatoes and mushrooms was very good and reasonable in price, the grilled Salmon on spinach with raisins was perfectly cooked with great grilled edges. Service was average, but if you are not in a terrible hurry it will not bother you. Atmosphere a bit affected by chain-smoking cruise ship visitors with some very ill-informed opinions which all at the restaurant could hear.

“Best title would be average”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

Dropped in just for a drink and tapas. Service was sharp and place busy. Drinks within two minutes of ordering. Had four little dishes. The clams in tomato sauce fab, omelette tasty but lukewarm, potatoes bravas worst I eaten. Bland white large under roasted spuds in poor Marie rose dressing. What a shame. Tomato bread nice but differcult to get that wrong. Got the feeling this was almost a fast food joint just pushing for the maximum number of covers a night. But, and I guess it why they so busy - excellent location but do Note there a 6% surcharge for eating outside and €1.50 for "settings and bread" per person

“Tired staff”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

We found this place via TimeOut website thinking we would get great seafood by the water. We arrived to a tourist trap (to be expected I guess) and was greeted by tired staff, so tired that the waitress spilt wine over my hand when pouring and proceeded to yawn. The food was mediocre and overpriced. The only saving grace was the view.
