“Lovely ambiance and good service, expensive wine”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

We managed to get into PLA restaurant for one of our meals (our anniversary meal, our friends were also celebrating their 35th) and this has an excellent ambiance and the food was excellent, however the two ladies both ordered the cod which we were told was slow cooked at 60 degrees, unfortunately it was not at all to their liking as it was almost transparent and had a more slimy texture, as well as being cold. Being typically English they refused to say anything or order another meal, I'm sure if we'd have commented something could have been arranged for us so would recommend the restaurant but be careful about this dish if it's on the menu. The two males chose well :-) and had excellent meals. This is a highly rated restaurant on Tripadvisor so I recommend booking, possibly even before you go - they were turning people away at the door whilst we were there (a table upstairs would be nice if you can get one). The other point to note is the wine is very expensive in our opinion, the beer however was acceptably priced. In summary, lovely place, good service, careful with the cod fish dish, and be prepared to splash out if you like wine.

“fabulous”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

Twelve of us were in Barcelona celebrating a 160th Birthday! (Two 50th and one 60th).
This restaurant has a very good well deserved reputation and was packed when we sat down at 10pm. As we were a large table we chose from the group menu, which was smaller but plenty of choice for all. The starter consisted of a selection of tapas, brought in stages to the table. They were inventive and very good. I had tuna for the main course, which was the best I have ever had, cooked to perfection! Other dishes were also well received, with some unusual combinations which worked very well together. The chef obviously takes great pride in his/her work and the presentation and quality was superb.
The wines were excellent and the service efficient and friendly.
I would have no hesitation in returning to PLA.
One word of warning, study a map in advance. It is difficult to find.

The food was great, as well the wine. You need to make reservation before, but they speak english, so it won't be a problem.

“Terrific ambience and food”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Our hotel recommended Pla for our first (jet-lagged) dinner in Barcelona. We were very pleased. The restaurant is I. The charming Gothic section of the city, close to where we were staying. We were seated upstairs overlooking the whole restaurant. It is a very attractive space, which added to the ambience. The food was outstanding. We ordered three dishes for the two of us--a very fresh, simple salad, a terrific "cannelloni" made with zucchini, avocado, and so e other vegetables, and the fish special. All of the dishes were excellent and imaginative. Service was attentive without being over the top. A great experience that we recommend highly for a nice introduction to Mediterranean cuisine in Barcelona.

“Excellent food & service”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

This is a cozy little restaurant tucked away on an small side street in the Gothic Quarter. It is a beautiful place, very romantic setting. The service was excellent. We did have to wait for our reserved table for a 1/2 hour before being seated, but this was not an issue as we sat at the bar and had a glass of wine while waiting. The food was absolutely delicious and really beautifully presented. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our fist time there but will go back next trip to Barcelona.
