“The best tapas I had”
Reviewed April 24, 2013 via mobile

We visited La Flauta a few days ago and wow! This was amazing! We arrived around 7:30 pm just before it became really busy ad quickly chose our tapas. All of our selections arrived quickly and were fresh tasty and perfectly made!
Wine was recommended by the staff and blended with our selections. The waiter also told us when we ordered enough, which was really nice of him.

“Great food and atmosphere...”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

We tried La Flauta based on Trip Advisor recommendations during our stay in Barcelona. We had tried to visit on our first night but it was a Sunday and seemed to be closed. The second night we walked past early (7:30pm) and it was fairly empty. When we came back at 9pm the place was a bustling hive of activity with a line of locals and tourists alike lining up waiting for tables. We had a drink at the bar while waiting and salivated over the fresh produce sitting in the counters waiting to be cooked and served. Once seated, we poured over the menu (provided in English for us language challenged) and ordered a selection of tapas. Yummy Galacian clams, fresh grilled sardines, grilled asparagus and mushrooms and a beautiful camembert croquette. The baby calamari tubes were a highlight, cooked to perfection with garlic and salt and the fresh bread smeared with tomato allowed us to soak up all the beautiful juices from the dishes. Although we were full, we splurged on dessert – a spongy, custard crème catalana cake with a brulee topping and smothered in rich chocolate sauce and a tasty crema catalana. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and we left full and happy.
The next evening we intended on eating elsewhere (to try different places), but in the end we returned again to La Flauta. This time we had the fried potato, with cured ham and two fried runny eggs over the top – not healthy but very tasty! We also had the calamari tubes, asparagus and mushrooms and camembert again – as good as the previous night. A great filling meal for a great price about 27€ for two.
We would definitely recommend eating at La Flauta – such a friendly and inviting place with great food.

“HORRIBLE service”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

We were recommended this restaurant by the receptionist at our hotel, and she told us this was where she would go when she wanted to eat tapas. We were told that it was a busy place, and we should go there to eat either before 8 or after 10, as they did not take reservations. We went there after 10, which I would not reccomend. The place was packed, but it did not take long for us to get a table, and it became obvious why. We had a total of 5 waitors, each one literally running around, and none gave us their attention for more than 30 seconds, including the waitor taking our order. I asked our waitor what he would recommend on the menu, and he did not answer, he just laughed. When we had made our order (tapas), I asked him if he thought it would be enough for the two of us, ( we have experienced a lot of different sizes on the tapas dishes here in Barcelona.) He laughed in my face, and left the table. After a few minutes we received the potato dish, and after a few minutes more the prawns came to the table. We had ordered two more dishes, and for 20 minutes they were nowhere to be seen. After the wait one of the five waitors came to the table and said that they were out of the mini hamburgers that we had ordered. I asked her if she could recommend something we could have instead, to which she responded that she would get us a menu. We waited for 25 (!!!) minutes, without anyone even approaching us. We tried to get a hold of someone, but it is not simple, since they are literally running around. After a while I managed to get a hold of the same waitor, and I asked her for the menu she had promised. She came back with it immediately, so it seemed she had just forgot about us the first time. I asked her at the same time if it would be a long wait for our last dish that we had ordered the first time. She went and got it, as she had also forgot about that one, and it was cold.
My boyfriends glass was also empty for the last 35 minutes of our visit there, and noone even asked if he wanted something more to drink.

I have NEVER experienced worse service in my entire life. (and Im from Norway). The staff was extremely stressed, not attentive, and rude. Dont go here, I left extremely disappointed, and I cannot understand how this place has so many recommendations. The food was alright, (the food that we actually got), but it was impossible to enjoy the meal, as it took a half an hour between the dishes entering the table.

“Gorgeous food, authentic Barca experience!”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Our last night out in Barcelona was made extra special thanks to the great food, friendly service and classy surroundings at La Flauta. Thronging with locals and tourists alike, we were lucky to arrive early enough not to have to queue. Service was slick with plate after plate of fabulous tapas arriving and each surpassing our expectations of flavour, presentation and portion size. Particularly good were the fried whitebait, mushrooms with asparagus, potato and onion omelette and the creme Catalan for dessert. The restaurant doesn't look much from the exterior, though it's in a great area with lots of upmarket boutiques and bars, and once inside it's stylish with a convivial atmosphere. You won't be disappointed!

“Amazing food & wine”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We were recommended a restaurant and got mixed up over street names, but luckily we ended up in this gem.
We arrived at half 10 and had an hour wait, the waiting area was small but we were lucky enough to get a seat at the bar.

The waiters were extremely helpful, tapas, especially the olives were delicious and reasonably priced.

If we had been staying in Barcelona longer we would have visited a second time.
