“Wonderful hostel in Barcelona suburbs”
Reviewed November 20, 2011

We've stayed at this hostel a number of times, and always enjoyed it. It is a little out from the city centre, but by no means hard to get to; it is five minutes walk from the metro station, and to be honest the centre is so non-stop it's actually nice to get out to where the pace feels a little slower and chilled out. As the name would suggest, the garden is a lovely spot and great for breakfast and a wee chat... in the evenings we found there was chat but it was not rowdy; compared to previous hostel experiences in the centre this was bliss.

We should add we have a favourite room which we are hesitant to share in case we are never able to book it again... but one of the private ensuite rooms has a gorgeous private little balcony which we adored...

Room Tip: The private ensuite has a wonderful private balcony, wonderful for a breakfast... where else in Barc...

I was unexpectedly in need of accommodation while in Barcelona during the festival de la Merce` and chose this hostel due to the reviews on Trip Advisor. I was not disappointed. My very first stay in a hostel, 40+ and expecting to feel out of place I was greeted warmly at the desk by the manager and found the 'roomies' just as welcoming. The dorms were imaculate, the kitchen large and functional and clean. Food left over was recycled and on offer for struggling travellers, but I was thrilled to find some Corn Flakes left on offer. There were people of all ages and such a lovely air of community which was inspired by the management and their communal BBQ's for a tiny 4 euro. The train stations were a ten minute walk up, or down a bit further, and even arriving 'home' in the wee hours I felt safe at all times, the streets are well lit and the surroundings very suburban and non threatening. Guests are encouraged to mingle and socialise together so it was fun to BBQ and travel into the festival with a dozen or so others of every age group and nationality. One unlucky Aussie was robbed and was able to work at the hostel for his accommodation and keep unitl his funds arrived. The terrace on the top has a lovely view across the town and hillsides and is a great place for solitude and tanning. I loved this place and would recommend it to any people who want to be just that little bit away from the craziness of Las Ramblas. I will definitely be back for a longer stay.

This hostel is situated in the outskirts of Barcelona about 5 minutes walking
from the metro station Valldaura (green line - L3).
During my visit there was always sitting a friendly and smiling person at the reception.
After few formalities I have got the keys to my room. It was really small
(2,2m x 1,5m) room, anyway clean with a bed. I am not claustrophobic, but I didnt feel comfortable in this room.
The other facilities were working well - as fast wifi internet, kitchen. Also the bathroom was frequently cleaned.

Despite the cheap price, working wifi, clean room & bathroom, smiling receptionists I know that I will not sleep again in this hostel. Because of the small room and the distance to city center.

This Hostel is all and all, alright. The place as a whole is lovely. The staff is fun and helpfull and it's also fairly clean. The problem I had was sleeping. The bed is not to comfortable and the noise does not stop. During the 3 nights we spent there, other guests kept talking loud and slaming doors up until 2 in the morning. And the sound ecoes throuout all the hostel. Also, the rooms are pretty spartan, with beds and nothing else. And, on top of that, in spite of being located in a very nice street and neigborhood, the place is simply too far from downtown so add up on the price of the night, the price of transportation that you will have to take everyday if you wanna go anywhere.
All that for 60 Euros a couple? That just didn't seem like a good deal to me.
But I don't wanna be too demanding or unfair. The Hostel is pretty decent and I guess Barcelona is supposedly much more expensive than other cities, so there.

Just stayed in the beginning or May. Cool little place with a nice courtyard, and rooftop terrace. The staff was great! They were helpful and friendly. The room was a three person with its own bathroom. Clean and comfortable. The kitchen was good as well.

Everything about this hostel was very comfortable. Great place for first-timer backpackers!
