It's an excellent restaurant with old bodega style atmosphere thanks to ancient terracotta pots and decanters which litter the dining area walls .The walls are full of wine bottles.the staff was nice and helpfull to suggest traditional dishes. . The wine list is excellent full of quality wine from Spain. The menu offers a great choice of the best Spanish Catalan cusine, from fish "bacalao" to sausages chorizos and ham Jamon, quesos cheese and different kind of tapas. Excellent was the bacalao salad , the chorizos in cuban style, and like dessert fresh cheese with honey, almonds, pine kernels and raisins. they served Pan y Tomate with huge slides of baked bread. We drank an excellent Rioja reserva red wine. It was a kindly nice experience out of the tourist routes... dont miss it.

I've been to Barcelona 4 times, and La Tinaja 3 times ... it never disappoints. As opposed to the typical tapas that you run into at many other restaurants in el born, this place has rustic, hearty food in gargantuan portions. The atmosphere is like a "wine cave," with barrels and bottles covering the walls, and looks like it's refashioned from an old stable. It's in a convenient area to a bunch of bars and clubs as well. There''s always a little bit of a wait, but I've never waited more than 25 mins, and you can always order a bottle of wine and stand at the bar.

The only criticism I have of La Tinaja is the service -- it might be the language barrier, but every time I've been there, the servers and hosts have been pretty brusque. I speak conversational Spanish and can order in a restaurant without difficulty, so I'm not sure what the issue there is. The food is good enough that I overlook it.

Seems an old stable or garage converted into a restaurant. It kept the original walls and ceiling giving it that old warehouse feeling. Food served is mainly Catalan traditional with a nice selection of embutidos, aumados and cheeses. It also has a good variety of wines. Very casual restaurant with a warm atmosphere
