Description: Awarded a Michelin star since 2008, and rated #1 for food in Barcelona by Zagat, Cinc Sentits has created a buzz in Barcelona. Prodigal chef Jordi Artal's playful experiments with Catalan tastes, aromas, textures, layers, and sensations is cutting edge stuff. He recommends the seasonal tasting menu, letting each course bring a new and exciting sensation to your palate. There is a 6-course and a shorter 4-course version of the menu, both available with an optional wine pairing. All this, plus professional yet friendly multilingual service in a modern setting.

We recently dined at Cinc Sentits and had a wonderful experience. We got there when it just opened, 8:30pm and ate until midnight. Each dish seemed to bring back a memory and the wine selection was excellent. The only thing that wasn't great was my food allergies. I let them know of my allergies in the beginning which wasn't a huge list, just 2 things, but they forgot about it a few times. Just need to be more careful before diving into the food if you have food allergies. It was our most expensive meal in Europe, but definately worth it!

We dined at Cinc Sentits and truly had all of our senses gratified. The food was outstanding, the wine pairings were wonderful and the service was perfect (i.e., absolutely attentive and not at all cloying). The restaurant is very modern in design -- it does not look like old Europe at all, but rather 21st century Barcelona (which is very stylish). Cost was a bit over 100 Euros per person, well worth it for this type of dining experience. Note that this includes wine pairing (which I believe are part of most offerings).

We were really disappointed with this restaurant. We have been to quite a lot of really good restaurants in Spain and elsewhere, starred or otherwise, but this is the first time a restaurant did by so far not live up to the hype. We took the "sensacion" menu that was supposed to take our five senses for a tour, but none of that happened. Some dishes were in fact delicious, the caramelised foie gras for example, but these were far outnumbered by dishes that were mediocre at best. The fish was much overcooked and thus lost all its interest. The chocolate desert was surprisingly tasteless and ordinary. Only one of our senses got a good workout at this restaurant, and that is thanks to the sommelier, who apparently forgot to use deodorant and smelt really bad. We preferred not having another bottle opened than have him move around us with his aura!

We were in Barcelona for only one evening and after a good deal of research, had selected Cinc Sentits for my wifes' birthday celebration dinner. The Sensations tasting menu was superb and the wine pairing, with virtually all of the wines from the local area, fully complimented the skill and originality of the kitchen. We have already recommended this restaurant to both friends and business associates. The only caveat would be for diners who prefer large, hearty meals. This restaurant would not suit you. But if you like food as a taste experience, coupled with a real sense of theatre, make a booking as soon as you can

My wife and I topped off our two week stay in Barcelona last Tuesday with the eight course "Sensations" tasting menu, and told each other that this is what restaurant dining in the 21st century should be about.; intimate and focused on the collaboration between ingredients and the palate. A great success, and many kudos to all the staff in this extraordinary family run restaurant who were so generous in their attention and guidance.
