Description: Restaurant Casa Calvet is located in Casa Calvet, a building created for a textile manufacturer by the Catalan Architectural genius Antoni Gaudi. Its accounting offices, management and boardrooms have been converted into semi-private dining rooms where we have preserved taste and elegance to the delight of our customers. Restaurant Casa Calvet is a unique and exclusive place where dining becomes a sensual experience which blends the state of the art cuisine with the beauty of Gaudi's work.

“Beautiful restaurant, good service, small portions”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

The interior of this restaurant is beautiful, the staff are very attentive, friendly and they all spoke good English. I had duckling with pear which was a very small portion- I regretted not having a starter. One person I was with had walnut and strawberry salad and then pigeon. The other had spring vegetable filo pastry pie then lamb chops. The desserts were really good. Although the food was good, it's not the best I've had and I thought the portion size was too small. Worth a visit to see the building but less for the food.

“Classic food in an intimate and historic setting (Gaudi architecture)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2013

So. Not your flowing modernista Gaudi architecture, but something he did earlier in his career - more staid, more classical. But what a place to eat! We were celebrating my birthday and could not have chosen better. The restaurant is cool, intimate and calm, and mostly patronised (this was lunchtime) by a few tourists splashing out and some businessmen. The food and service could not be bettered. We recommend the strawberry and walnut salad starter, the monkfish and cockles and (above all!) the red berry and lemon tart. It was great. The restaurant itself was great. The staff were great. It was all great!

“Still good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2013

Sixteen years after our first visit, Casa Calvet remains a classy option for dinner. For those on the Gaudi trail in Barcelona this has great credentials - an early commission for an office and workshop that lends itself brilliantly to cosy private dining booths under a high, barrelled ceiling. The workshop-like space is softened with original dark timber and glass screens, thick carpets and drapes.
We enjoyed the tasting menu - across seven or eight courses there were only one or two faintly duff notes, chiefly due to unnecessary use of beetroot shoots as a garnish, for instance, and the best dishes were excellent - roast squab on a wild mushroom risotto being the stand-out dish of the evening. The cookery is rooted in the classical tradition, but inventive enough to make dinner here a special treat. The wine list is accessible and reasonably-priced, it seems. Service is unhurried and attentive: apparently the chef and his assistant, as well as at least two of the senior members of the front of house team were working there when we first visited, and you certainly get the feeling that you are in safe hands as soon as you take your seat. Highly recommended for an intimate, relaxed evening.

“Wonderful gastronomic experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2013 via mobile

The restaurant is located in a beautiful building. The staff is friendly and helpful. We chose the 4-course dinner and were given 2 appetizers. The food was refined and had great flavours. The winecard was extensive and the sommelier is able to make some reccomendations. We had a wonderful gastronomic experience for a fair price and would reccomend this restaurant for special evenings.
