Description: Cal Pep offers a fresh and bright culinary experience with easy and quick preparations. Our restaurant concept grew from the idea of sharing the dishes, their tastes and flavours, in a 'tapas'-style. Faithful to this style, Pep invites us to enjoy light, exquisite and extremely varied dishes. Cal Pep is authentic Mediterranean cuisine, reflecting Pep's personal style and incorporating seasonal ingredients. You will enjoy fish, shellfish and fresh produce, all prepared with Pep's originality and flair. Welcome and happy dining! For a truly great tapas place, sit at the bar at old-school Cal Pep, Thomas Keller's vote for the best food in Europe. -- The Guardian The 'Tapas Institution' of Barcelona. There is no shtick here apart from superbly fresh seafood, served simply and on plates designed for sharing. -- The Telegraph

“Really glad we visited”
Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

We visited Cal Pep on a Saturday lunch time. After hearing how busy it gets we arrived around 30 minutes before opening time and waited across in a cafe with a cold drink before heading over to wait by the shutters at around 10 minutes before opening. Glad we did as 2 minutes after opening it was full with a queue of people waiting to be seated. Don't expect cheap give away prices-it's reasonable but not La Tasca which you can tell in the taste too!

“Amazing tapas”
Reviewed February 27, 2014

Incredibly tasty, somewhat advanced gourmet tapas. I was blown away. Expect to wait for a while if you don't have a reservation.
The wine list was extensive with midlevel to expensive wines in stock.
The atmosphere was great and the staff very friendly end lively.
This is definitely not a "violin-playing-stare-at-a-candle-with-your-girlfriend" place. It's all about friendlt spanish chaos and joy of good food.

“Good tapas but OVER PRICED”
Reviewed February 22, 2014 via mobile

The food is tasty but the tapas are overpriced, around 60€ for 2 persons (in town you can have much more for half of that price). The food is good but I don't think the price is justified.

“Great experience for Tapas”
Reviewed February 21, 2014 via mobile

A busy Tapas Bar frequented by Spanish and tourists, with a great atmosphere. We were advised before that there was no menu with prices and you choose your tapas with help of the friendly waiter, so knew to be cautious with our choice. Seating is at the bar and it was necessary to wait, not a problem as you can watch the food being cooked and decide on you choice before ordering. We had 4 plates, a couple of beers and wine and the bill was Eu67 - not cheap, but no complaints as the food was delicious. Great choice for experiencing the traditional tapas style of dining. Thoroughly recommended.

“Way overpriced”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

Cal Pep serves average fare at ridiculous rates. There's no menu, so you have no idea what you're getting or how much you will be charged. We were five people and our bill came to $350. That wouldn't be so bad if the food was worth it—but it wasn't. Save yourself some some Euros and go elsewhere.
