“Lovely!!!”
Reviewed March 29, 2012

My experience about restaurants in Barcelona is not the best so I was finally pleased! I could not believe it. Gorgeous restaurant, very friendly and capable service, fantastic food and a very decent wine choice. Yes, I will come again!

“Good but nothing extraordinary”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

We went to El Cafè de la Princesa last Sunday. It is an elegant, clean and modern restaurant, set in a great location (at very centre of El Born, one of the most visited neighbourhoods in Barcelona).

Service is polite and kind, though sometimes too fast - they removed the guacamole sauce they served as an appetizer when I had just had a little bit of it, without asking if I wanted more! In spite of this, they were very kind and asked several times if everything was ok.

The building is a little palace, similar to the one that hosts the Picasso Museum, perfectly restored. They take advantage of the old patio at the centre of the palace and use it as a source of natural light, which is a nice touch. Walls are decorated with modern paintings that can be purchased.

Food is ok, but nothing extraordinary. Typical Mediterranean cuisine with some not-so-original twists, and something Asiatic every now and then (spices, mainly). I do recommend, though, les patates braves (spicy potatoes): they come with sweet mayonnaise and delicious vinaigrette, and were the spotlight of our meal. We didn’t order fideuà (roasted noodles with fish sauce), but it looked pretty tasty too.

The restaurant also offers live music some nights, but we weren’t lucky. I suggest that you check their scheduled shows at their web page (we didn’t).

Apart from the restaurant, the palace also hosts a retail shop that opens on Sundays, not very common in Barcelona.

“Absolutely fantastic!!!!”
Reviewed December 10, 2011

We visited this restaurant with our 12 year old daughter and had the most amazing meal. Our daughter cannot eat wheat or gkuten and the staff were so helpful, even providing wheat free bread! The service was exceptional and we will definitely return the next time we visit Barcelona.

“It felt short to my expectations”
Reviewed November 28, 2011

The restaurant decoration is great and beautiful and the service is polite and efficient.
However, I had expected more from their food, to be more outstanding and unique.
