Description: Ca l'Isidre is the best formal Catalan restaurant in Barcelona. Royalty, celebrities and gourmets have been returning to this small family-owned, art-filled treasure since it opened just off El Paral.lel avenue and inside the Raval quarter in the 70s. Because it relies on what catches chef-owner Isidre Girones at the nearby La Boqueria market that morning, the menu changes day by day. Go for the classics every time: the mushrooms, the truffles, the sausages, grilled prawns and roast baby goat, for example, are out of this world. A special mention goes to Ca l'Isidre creative desserts. A must-visit restaurant.

Ca I'isidre is the real deal. A very old establishment with the elderly owner on the prowl, attending to your every wish. The specialities are Catalan-- and you should ask your waiter what's best. The roast baby goat has been on the menu since 1970 and was delicious, as were the lobster gazpacho and the roast turbot Basque style. Everything we tried was wonderful. Service was helpful and professional. Prices are high, but not stratospheric. The building is a bit off the beaten path in the older part of the city, but easy to find in a taxi and they will arrange a taxi for you when it's time to leave. The best dining experience we had in Barcelona.

We had an excellent meal; the table was comfortable and although a small restaurant the other diners were not intrusive. The food is very, very good. Thoroughly recommend this place as a lovely evening to remember.

I haven't checked but if this small place hasn't garnered at least two Michelin stars, something is wrong. Long and narrow with just 32 seats , it's stunning. And the food and service are sublime. We sat next to an obvious regular at lunch. Just watching him devour 5 or 6 courses was lots of fun. It's a special place.

Fantastic restaurant in central Barcelona. They serve great seafood and meat, along with all the specialities, lambs brain , pigs trotters etc. It really caters for the conservative and adventurous alike.
This is a restaurant for special occasions though as is expensive for Barcelona. That does not mean that it is not value for money.
I had the Turbot which was cooked to perfection and amazingly tasty. Great comfortable service also. Couldn't complain.

I wanted to try some traditional Catalan food on a recent trip to Barcelona so came here on the recommendation of a number of publications - the owner was very friendly and made sure he worked the tables and made everyone feel welcome, and the restaurant itself is small, clean and sharp looking which is rare for a place of such standing and longevity.

I started with the fava beans with squid and mint. An absolute must! Delicious and fresh. The local white wine was excellent too. The main (a pork dish) was a bit fatty for my liking but I suppose I misread the menu which is only in Catalan and Spanish. However my dessert - a crema Catalana (with a zesty orange flavour) - more than made up for this, as did the quaint and friendly ambience. The owner even gave me a free whiskey as we got on so well! I will return soon.
