Well a few streets north (and on same side as) the public market, off La Ramblas. Number 25 Carrer, Pintor Fortuny, this deceptively spacious cafe-cum-restaurante has a narrow frontage but goes back for miles! On offer only vegetarian quisine in a buffet self-serve style.
You can have a soup, piles of salad, main and a pud for 10 euro`s, or have composte bits, individually priced. We were a group of five. All had salads - a good selection from pasta, potatoes, boiled eggs, pulses, peas grains, olives, tomatoes, peppers, mixed beetroot etc etc. Good dark grain bread.
I had plate of very varied salads and hot tofu curry and couscous. The pasta with Rocefor sauce and the Carrot Pie got the thumbs up too. The chocolate brownie was dense, dark, moist and delicious, choice of teas, juices etc. The bill for 5, all consuming no less than two courses, but some three..with drinks was under 48 euro`s.
