Travelled on 17th to 19th Feb 2009. Stayed here with my wife, son 12, daughter 9 in the 4 bed quad-room. Very clean with welcoming staff, free tea, coffee or water 24 hours a day. Great location for exploring this fantastic city. Used the T10 metrocard (7 Eu) 10 train trips for approx six pound, and you dont have to use them all in one day, these tickets can also be passed back to other users on the same journey.
Kids loved the dolphins in the zoo, and the photo holding the "European Cup" at FC Barcelona. You must go to Park Guell and the Olympic Village then on to the Castle at the top of Mont-juic to see the best view of the whole of Barcelona.
We used the A1 Aerobus from Terminal A at the airport, staight to Placa de Catalunya (4.25 Eu) this is by far the cheapest way to do this journey.
If you are travelling with kids then this is one of the safest areas to stay in the whole city. The staff will give you a large free map of the city and help you with any directions whether it be on foot, on the metro or on the bus.
Also, there is a local "spar style shop" called SUMA, just around the corner, ideal for buying your goodies to make sandwiches for you travels.
The "Hard Rock Cafe" lets you take your kids in with you....nice quick beer...mmmmmmm
DONT BUY FOOD OR DRINK ON THE RAMBLAS. UNLESS YOU ARE RICH.....
BE AWARE OF PICK-POCKETS IN CROWDS WEAR YOUR BACK-PACK ON YOUR FRONT ON LAS RAMBLAS, AND USE YOU CAMERA STRAP ON YOUR WRIST.....
HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP..
JUST USE YOUR COMMON SENSE REALLY, AND YOU`LL BE FINE.
