Reviewed February 21, 2009

Travelled on 17th to 19th Feb 2009. Stayed here with my wife, son 12, daughter 9 in the 4 bed quad-room. Very clean with welcoming staff, free tea, coffee or water 24 hours a day. Great location for exploring this fantastic city. Used the T10 metrocard (7 Eu) 10 train trips for approx six pound, and you dont have to use them all in one day, these tickets can also be passed back to other users on the same journey.
Kids loved the dolphins in the zoo, and the photo holding the "European Cup" at FC Barcelona. You must go to Park Guell and the Olympic Village then on to the Castle at the top of Mont-juic to see the best view of the whole of Barcelona.
We used the A1 Aerobus from Terminal A at the airport, staight to Placa de Catalunya (4.25 Eu) this is by far the cheapest way to do this journey.
If you are travelling with kids then this is one of the safest areas to stay in the whole city. The staff will give you a large free map of the city and help you with any directions whether it be on foot, on the metro or on the bus.
Also, there is a local "spar style shop" called SUMA, just around the corner, ideal for buying your goodies to make sandwiches for you travels.
The "Hard Rock Cafe" lets you take your kids in with you....nice quick beer...mmmmmmm
DONT BUY FOOD OR DRINK ON THE RAMBLAS. UNLESS YOU ARE RICH.....
BE AWARE OF PICK-POCKETS IN CROWDS WEAR YOUR BACK-PACK ON YOUR FRONT ON LAS RAMBLAS, AND USE YOU CAMERA STRAP ON YOUR WRIST.....
HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP..
JUST USE YOUR COMMON SENSE REALLY, AND YOU`LL BE FINE.

Me and friends stayed in a shared bathroom 4 bedroom room from 29th december to 1st january. We booked our stay through http://www.hostelworld.com and it was super cheap compared to the other places we looked at. The hostel is a 5 minute walk from the nearest metro stop and about half an hour walk from the nearest bus station. We flew to girona and got the barcelona bus to the bus station and walked to the hostel but it is probably worth paying the 6-8 euros for a taxi to get to the hostel when you have bags etc. The man who greeted us was friendly and we were quickly showed to our room which was spacious and clean, The shared bathroom was clean and always stocked with toilet roll! The bathroom was shared between the 4 rooms on the floor but there was no problem with getting a shower when you needed one etc. The only criticism i would have of this place is that because smoking is allowed indoors our room did need a good airing when we first got there, but if you have visited barcelona before you will know its hard to find anywhere where people dont smoke. This is a tiny disadvantage for such a pleasant and cheap hostel and i would definitley go back again!!!

  • Liked — price of rooms, friendly service, good location

Not a really fancy place to go but if you don't want to spend too much for a room, the Que Tal is a good choice. I always had a good time here. Relativly cheap for Barcelona, great location and friendly stuff. A bit noisy so ask for a room not facing "Mallorca" street, better to "Bruc".
