“Far from Tourist Sites but close to a decent Metro Line”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013

Standard for its 4 star rating. Very friendly staff with relevant information for tourist.

Standard Room: Stayed on the first floor, but you could hear the occasional noise from the street side or rowdy guests returning from a night out in the hallwaysT. wo single beds, decent size for my two large suitcases, in-room safe, two double wardrobes, LCD TV, minibar, spacious bathroom w/ separate tub and shower.

Facilities: On-site gym, they give you a Wifi voucher per night of stay which was capped to 100mb per 24 hours - very basic speed. Unfortunately, this means you can only connect one device per voucher. There is a business centre with faster (pay) service and printing.

Location: Be aware this is not near many main tourist destinations. You can either walk to Plaza Catalunya in one hour, or take the nearest Metro station (10 mins from the hotel) and be there in 20 mins. Taxi to the Airport is between 30-40 EUR. This is probably why the price was competitive.

Room Tip: Quiet rooms are on higher floors, facing towards the Lilla shopping complex. But the ones facing th...

I recently stayed at the NH Constanza during a recent work conference at the hotel itself.

Rooms:
I had a few issues with the room I stayed in (which was on the first floor facing the street):

1) the central air / fan for the room only blew hot air. I turned it on (to the lowest temperature) and went out for dinner. On returning, the room felt like a sauna;
2) windows cannot be opened by yourself - you have to call reception and they will send someone to open it for you. Same for closing the window - they must do it for you as well;
3) because I had the hotel open the window to deal with the high temperature of my room, the street noise was very loud and unbearable. I didn't sleep that well the first night as I was constantly woken up by the street noise.

On my second night at the hotel I moved to the second floor facing the shopping mall and that room was much better with no issues.

There is a shopping mall right behind the hotel, which the major Spanish shops. The sales reps spoke English quite well in the shops.

Food:
The breakfast was quite good - lots of cured meats, cheeses, yoghurts, coffee, lattes, etc. If breakfast is included in your room, you should definitely have it. If you had to pay EUR 25, however, I doubt it would be worth it unless you are really hugry.

I also had lunch at Nhube as part of my conference and it was very good with lots of selection and fresh ingredients.

Location:
I took a cab everywhere I needed to go, and was there for work, so the location wasn't really an issue for me. However, it is not terribly central and if you are a tourist, you should prepare to travel a bit to get into the city.

Service:
The service at reception was excellent. They were willing to answer any questions and went above their call of duty. They were willing to print out boarding passes, train tickets, etc. When I asked to change rooms, they dealt with the request professionally and were sympathetic to my concerns.

Spa:
I had a pedicure at the spa. It was done well although they did not speak much English. The receptionist was not very friendly and kept following my friend and I around, but the actual aesthetician was very good. The pool and spa area is very mediocre - there is a hot tub which is average an the pool is outside. As it was rainy and cold during my stay, I did not use the pool.

Wireless internet:
The free wireless (you need a code from reception every 24 hours) was fine for checking emails. It wasn't particularly quick but was sufficient. I don't think you'd be able to download or use skype, etc.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor, on the non-street side. There is a club/disco on the other side t...

This is a "cool" steel/glass business hotel with little personality or atmosphere, but for business it is a very professional and indeed nice hotel. The restaurant is nearly empty, but serves excellent 3-course menus in the evening with drinks, inluding wine for 29 Euro. This is very good value considering the high quality of the food. Behind the hotel, there are several bars/cafees serving low-cost food and drinks in an informal setting. Here you can sit outside.
The place is located outside the city center, and therefore, in my view, not very attractive for familes or just tourism. You have to walk 15 minutes to the Les Corts Metro station to get a train to the Rambla, Gothic Quarter of harbour/beach. There is nothing of interest in the hotel area, so if you want to stay in the center, I will go elsewhere. During this trip, we also stayed at the Citadines Rambles, which has a spendid location.

I usually stay at the NH Constanza four times a year while visiting Barcelona on business. While convenient for my office, this hotel is a 10 minute walk from the nearest metro station and there are not many good restaurants nearby. This probably isn't a hotel for tourists...

As other reviewers have said, the wifi is truly appalling and it's only really useful for checking email. Anything else is painful, Skype is to possible.

The rooms are large and modern although could possibly do with improved maintenance. The blind in my room was broken and the bed squeaked!

This hotel was recommended by the website of a conference I was attending at the nextdoor AXA Auditorium. While the room was very clean and comfortable, it was a bit 'tired', with a damaged blind held together with duct tape, and the bed cover with a hole (? Cigarette burn) in it. There were 2 single beds in the room, and apparently no rooms with doubles. The amenities provided in the bathroom were excellent, but certainly no bathrobe mentioned in another review. Temperature control was good and beds were comfortable. What would have made the stay much better would have been tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary bottled water, particularly as there are no convenience stores nearby (that I could find). If you want breakfast prior to 9am, best to have it at the hotel. I chose not to, and could only find a hot dog place open prior to 9am (when the conference started). The location was lovely, on a small park adjacent to a shopping centre. The staff were helpful. I was unable to access the supposed free wifi, but paid €6.60 a day for good high speed connection.

Stayed 3 nights there. Very modern hotel with large room. Very friendly staff. Located near a main road but surprisingly quiet. (Though the bars across the road may raise some noises around 2am) TV is HD quality but small, with limited programs. 10-15 mins of walk to the metro station, not so close. 36 euros of tax fee to T1 of the airport. Will choose it again next time.

We booked this hotel for a 5 night stay in March 2013, Two adults and one child, sharing a room. The room was nice (thought the air conditioning wasn't the best). We paid under £300 for room only. We tried the breakfast one day, 28.40 euros for the 3 of us. It was an enjoyable breakfast. However, i think the cafes around about the hotel, in the adjacent shopping centre, and below the hotel offer better value breakfast options. However, if simplicity is the most important aspect & you don't mind paying the premium price for breakfast, then it is a good option. The back on the hotel has a grass area, with a playpark. We found this to be a nice family friendly aspect.
In terms of travelling to the hotel, we found that travelling from the airport in taxi was a reasonable cost(25 euros one way and 30 euros back). However if you want to use public transport, the hotel website doesn't give the full story. You are better getting the metro to Maria Christina & changing on to the tram network (no new ticket needed as metro ticket valid for changing journies within 75 minutes of start of journey)and going two stops down to Lilla shopping centre which is attached to the hotel.
