“Great location”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Stayed here as part of the Top Deck Timeless Trail tour, we did not book this but would definitely stay back for a big group.

We'd been previously disappointed at each of the places they called 'hostels' they put us in o the tour so this was a pleasant surprise, the hostel and furniture were fairly new.
We stayed in a group for 6 with 3 bunk beds with our own bathroom and small balcony (which was locked slightly ajar)

It was a great location, around the corner from Casa Battlo (Gaudi), 10 mins walk to Las Ramblas (main area) and located on Passeig de Gracia just near all the main shopping.

The security was great as they check you have your accommodation card when arriving, and another great thing was having wifi available in most parts of the hostel, like the common room, reception and sometimes in the main stairwell.

Only thing was a tiny lift & many young backpackers/tour groups.

very nice and clean hostel. It has all that you need if you're looking for a good price, great location, nice atmosphere, and helpful staff. In the lobby, they have a lot of brochures of helpful maps and activities taking place. I would recommend it if you're going with a group of friends to Barcelona.

Considering the price we paid (travelled with a friend), it was a bargain for a nice, clean and centrally located hostel. We stayed in a 12-bed room, which sounds overwhelming, but we stayed during winter so some beds were not taken. In any case, everyone staying in the room was polite and quiet. It's Barcelona, so our roommates would stay out all night and creep back in and we never heard them which is cool. The hostel is really close to Plaza Catalunya, where we caught the Aeropuerto Bus. Las Ramblas is also relatively close, although it's quite touristy there. The hostel is on a busy main road, but is very safe - Chanel and other high end boutiques are right around the corner!

The room was quite stuffy if the window was closed, but it was winter so heating was appreciated. At times the window was open, and my bunk was right near the window but I didn't mind the street noise. The hostel room price includes linens but I had to pay for a thick blanket, which was only 1 or 2 euros from memory. Definitely needed it in winter. The shared bathrooms were great as well. The free breakfast was great, many people take the free fruit and biscuits with them as snacks during the day. We only took the subway a few times in our 2 day trip, Barcelona really is a walking city, it's also great to experience it on a Sunday as shops are closed but the city is still buzzing. The Gothic area is really quite amazing!

This hostel has a lot going for it: the location, the bar, the additional rooftop bar and the price. Great, great fun, spectacular and reasonable, respectively. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the building and rooms are clean. In terms of location, it is right next to Passeig de Gracias station, just up from Placa de Catalunya and the boulevard itself is beautiful. Very grand. The only downside, enough to genuinely annoy us, was the bar payment situation: bizarre. No money over the bar, all done via a weird little vending machine.

Room Tip: Low down: you don't want too many stairs up!

For my most recent travel, I had the opportunity to be with younger relatives who are quite open to try out hostels but not quite adventurous to try a dorm room. We stayed in private rooms with an en suite which is almost similar to booking in a 2/3 star hotel but just the basic necessities. It kinda defeated the purpose but it's our first time so we tried to test the water first. Who knows the young ones might like it - which was the general consensus after this tour.
The reviews here are succinct and rated in comparison with the other hostels we stayed at - Barcelona, Rome, Florence, Milan and Venice. Enjoy and happy travels.

+ Free walking tours - excellent guides
+ Lots of organized activities - like pub crawl (for a fee)
+ Is located on Passeig de Gracia, 10min walk to Plaza Catalunya where you can catch the Aeropuerto Bus.
+ Lots of good restaurants and high end shops around
+ Close to Metro
+ Common area + Great terrace bar with glimpse to Casa Batla
+ Easy to meet people and socialize
+ Common bathroom is very clean

- Private room was a bit on the smallish side.
- Breakfast is sufficient - bread, jams, cereals, juices, milk, coffee.
- WiFi is spotty on top floor. You have to go to the common area to get better signal.

Shower quirks: Shower is timed so you have to press the button again to restart it.

I stayed here for two nights in total, first night, second night I went to the equity point sister hostel-sea-terrible over there do payed to go back to this hostel.the hostel itself you can't really fault! It's clean, easy to find, amazing location and secure, what else do you need.after traveling around a good number of hostels I think this hostel is in some great need of some friendly happy helpful staff, the only thing that I could fault was most of the front desk staff, there where just about all rude and ...very rude, blunt, slow! Could t be nice when it was busy, it was a shame considering the hostel apart from the staff was perfect!

Equity Point Centric is a comfortable, well located and clean hostel. Sleeping is not a struggle as I found was in other hostels. The building is old but stunning, with a big open stairwell leading down into the atrium, a large common space where there is a descent kitchen and bar (as well as a rooftop bar).

Due to its size, Centric feels like the sort of accomodation which you need to spend more than just a few nights in to really enjoy and take in the stunning space and location. A comfortable short walk from Pl Catalunya and Les Ramblas, in close proximity to 2 major Gaudi attractions and perfectly located lower/mid way up Pl de Gracia, Centric is idealing positioned for solo or group travelers who are in Barcelona for a week or so. Catching the expensive and occasional inefficient metro is unnecessary in this situation, even for the beach which is a 25 minute walk away.

There was a nice vibe generally around the hostel, and though its space made the hostel a more appealing environment than most hostels, this sometimes made it a less intimate and therefore, less social but not hugely so.

The temperature in the dorms was inconsistent, sometimes quite cold, and one night hot, but i spoke to reception about it and they told me that the ac is on an automated timer. Breakfast and kitchen facilites were great.

Room Tip: I was in the large dorm and did not have any quells except the usual doors opening/closing. The dorm...
