“Good location, clean and modern”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in September. The location is excellent, and close to many of the main tourist areas in Barcelona. The rooms are very modern in decor and clean. My only disappointments were: the lighting in the rooms is very dark, the shower has a half door so alot of spraying onto the floor, and no windows to the outside!

We loved Soho and highly recommend this to couples or groups of friends who want to stay in a location close to the centre of Barcelona city.

What we loved:
Location - On one of the major arterials (Gran Via) so Metro access is incredibly close (Urgell). The Metro will get you anywhere you want to go so a T10 pass is a must. Or, you can walk to attractions which are not really that far if you would like to walk off breakfast or lunch.
Rooms - modern and clean. Loved all the mirrors which made the room look larger.
Staff - Super helpful, friendly and just down right lovely. Alessio in particular went out of his way to help us but all the other staff were very helpful too.
Pool - great pool area protected from the wind. Good for sun baking and chilling after a long morning sight-seeing.
Wifi - throughout hotel.

What could be improved:
It sounds petty but the shower head was not the best considering the lovely bathroom. There could have been more bathroom amenties but that could be due to level of room we booked.
Beds - were a little hard but that could just be us too.
Maybe a list of TV channels?

Overall, we would highly recommend Soho Hotel and thought that we got value fo money. Our firends booked at the hotel too as we were staying there and they loved Soho too (phew - a bit of pressure to make sure we booked a good hotel!). Thank you to the staff at Soho for being part of making our Barcelona trip an excellent one.

Room Tip: I like rooms that have a bit or room to unpack clothes and some bathroom amentities. We stayed at a...

Only good things to say about this hotel! Rooms were great, location was good, terrace was a nice place to chill but mostly, staff were excellent. Alissio and Jonas (I may have just butchered the spelling of their names) at reception were beyond helpful and friendly. The best meal we had in Barcelona was at Alissio's restaurant recommendation. I will say if you're going purely for a beach holiday this may not be the best location but if you're wanting to see a bit of everything, this is more central. Plus, the metro (which is super easy to navigate) is close by if you do want to cut out some walking time. For us- a couple wanting a comfortable, modern, convenient stay in Barcelona, this hotel was perfect. Thanks from Canada!

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in September 2012. The hotel is on the Gran Via in Barcelona, about a 10 minute walk from the Placa Catalunya and Las Ramblas. Although it is close to the main tourist hotspot, it's in a very quiet area of the city.

To get to the hotel I would recommend the Aerobus from the airport. It's 5.65 Euros each and stops at Urgell station, just outside the hotel. We got the train to Passaig Del Gracias and it wasn't much cheaper and took twice as long, plus we had to a 15 minute walk with our cases through the city. We went back on the Aerobus and it took 15 minutes and was very good.

The staff all speak superb English and are at hand for any enquiries or recommendations. The hotel is very stylish and super modern. It is very dark though. If you like your hotel light and airy this is probably not for you. The design is intentionally dark and moody throughout the entire building.

We had a room on the 4th floor. It was large and the bed was enormous. Large flat screen TV with English news channels, fairly reasonably priced mini bar (except soft drinks which were very expensive) and a very stylish bathroom. This, however, is one of the the new trendy 'see through' bathrooms, so if you're with someone shy then again, this hotel is not for you. You've been warned. There is a large safe in the room and plenty of wardrobe space. However, there are no drawers, just shelves, which seems a bit odd.

The rooftop pool area is very nice, although small. There are only 6 sun loungers and the pool is small. Breakfast is offered for 14 Euros per person. Although it is nice, it is quite expensive for what it is (pastries, eggs, bacon, fruit, tea, coffee) and there are plenty of places nearby much cheaper, including the amazing Escriba bakery across the road.

The hotel would get 5 out of 5 but for one or two small things. The bathroom door doesn't shut all the way, and has been designed like this. Although we could live with a see through shower, a gap on the bathroom door was not really for us. Room service is reasonable with a large selection, but when you're on the pool/terrace, you have to order terrace service which is much more limited and costs twice as much. The hotel has a 5 star feel, but these little things remind you it is a 3 star. In fairness, it is more like 4.5 out of 5 as the issues are pretty minor and overall, this is a great hotel in a great location in the centre of Barcelona.

Room Tip: Stay higher up in the hotel as the Gran Via is busy. Our room was on the 4th floor and was very quie...

Hotel soho has great size rooms and fantastic aircon- much needed in the spanish summer. The clean, modern, stylish rooms were very relaxing. We didn't take breakfast but went across the road to a super cafe. All the hotel's recommendations for resturants were excellent - we didn't have an average meal once let alone a bad one.

My husband loved the room and was greatful for a more masculine retreat than many hotel rooms.

Whilst in walking distance to everywhere from the port to Park Greull (my husband doesn't do "transport") this hotel is not in the thick of it. I would be happy to stay again but would prefer to be a bit closer to the action.

"Room Service" around the pool was disappointingly limited esp as they don't have a bar. Pool area could also do with clearing of dishes/glasses more frequently.

Staffs are friendly and helpful. Room big, modern and clean. Walking distance to Shopping Area and nice Restaurants. Easy access to Metro.

For sure will stay here again.

Very easy to miss the entrance as there is no sign of hotel if walk by.

This place is really stylish. Its like a modern 5* Hong Kong hotel or something out of Blade-Runner! The funky rooms were very comfortable and the free WiFi worked well. As other reviewers point out, the location is pretty central too, although not right amongst it. Being on the Gran Via (one of the busiest boulevards in town), traffic noise is to be expected, although it did not bother me. My one criticism of the rooms would be the bathroom, as the design seemed intent on dumping shower water all over the floor in a gigantic puddle! The front of house staff could not have been more charming and helpful. They speak great English also. I did not breakfast or use other amenities such as the small pool, but the roof terrace is worth a visit. All in all, a good choice for the money.
