From the attitude of the reception staff, to the basic room, I would not stay here again, especially having stayed in other hotels in Barcelona. This was one of the worst i have stayed in my entire life.

2 stars for location

Booked via Groupon as part of a Barcelona match deal, put it this way i can tell why the most of the cost went on the match ticket.

Bathroom not clean, hair in bath, room not clean in general, didnt feel comfortable getting in the bed.

Wifi was a joke, kept cutting out.

Best thing about this place is the location. 2 mins from Ramblas.

If you do not care about your hotel room stay here. If you prefer proper, clean hotels with friendly service then look elsewhere. There are plenty of 3 star hotels that are 10x better than this supposed 4 star hotel

Well located near the harbour, Colom de Christopher Columbus and the Ramblas. The Placa Real and Bario Gotic are also within easy walking distance as well as restaurants and shops. Originally a palace the hotel is being refurbished. The reception and lounge area is quite small as work is continuing on the ground floor. Our en suite room was was a good size with sufficient storage space looked out onto the atrium courtyard. At the moment the hotel only offers breakfast

The room was clean and well equiped. The breakfast was almost perfect (eggs variation would make it perfect, now only hard boiled ... But, they had Cava !!). Perfect location at 200 m from Rambla and Metro L3, 20 m from the harbour, lots of Resto's around. People at the desk were helpfull and friendly. We stayed at the first floor and did sleep very well despite the street and construction works at the opposite corner.
We would book again !!

Way overpriced, small rooms, bathroom ceiling leaks and very smelly lobby. At 125 euros a night, I was left disappointed and angry at such terrible conditions. I'd really like the management to respond to this comment.

Room Tip: Avoid room 311

We stayed here for 4 nights in april 2013. Location is fantastic, handy for drassanes metro stop and a few minutes walk to las ramblas. Front desk staff were helpful and pleasant, however consierge was very rude!!!
We were given the only double room left which faced onto another room but were changed immediately to a room that faced out onto a small square which was much better (even though it was a twin instead of double room).
Room was fairly big and clean, fridge in room did not work and there were no english channels on tv. There was a lot of noise in the mornings but the location of the hotel means that it is unavoidable and we were aware of this before going.
For location alone we would def stay here again, and the price is excellent also - however for a 4* hotel there are a lot of improvements that could be made.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony, otherwise you will be facing into someone elses room!!

We stayed at the Medinaceli after our cruise in September 2012. It was about a ten minute walk from the downtown cruise terminal (the other cruise terminal is a few kilometers away) , not far from Christopher Columbus's statue at the lower end of Ramblas; it was easy to roll our luggage on the sidewalk; didn't need a cab. The room was clean, roomy enough; staff was very helpful. It's at the edge of the Gothic area and close to las Ramblas; There are many restaurants within walking distance. Staff told us how to take the city bus (about five blocks away) to Gaudi's Church of the Sacred Family. Staff also arranged for a cab to the airport the next day; this was much appreciated since a general transportation strike was called for on that day. All this for a $95 US room booked on Hotels.com. We'd definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Try to find a room within walking distance of various attractions; do your homework online.

Me and my friend stayed here for a girly getaway in March...what a lovely hotel!we were a bit worried about reviews on here before hand but everything was fine! The hotel is located near La Ramblas (3 min walk away)really convinient for everything! dining out, drinks, shopping!talking of dining out there is a lovely restaurant/bar around the corner called Guru,i would highly recommed this for some tapas and drinks.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, the receptionist gave us advice on the bus tours and even gave us a pack with £ off the tickets.
The rooms were really clean and spacious (our bathroom was huge!)we also had a balcony looking out onto the marina. The maid came in every day to change towels and make the beds.
The hotel is opposite a square where some drunk people hang about at night but i dont think they cause trouble,i would advise you take ear plugs though because of this and also you can hear traffic early in the morning.
Breakfast was good!a good selection with meats, cheese, sausages, fruit, cereal, eggs, bread etc!good to fill you up for a day of sightseeing!
overall we had a really nice stay here and if i were to return to Barcelona I would probably stay here again!the location is amazing and hotel is really nice, what more do you want?!
i will also be reccomending to friends and family.
