“One night stay, very comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

Stayed over night from Salou. Family of 4, 2 adults 2 teens (16, 15) in family room. Had a very good nights sleep. Beds and pull out all comfortable and clean. Air conditioning just right.
Location was not easy to find at first, we walked from Barcelona center, over Mount Juic. Locals did not seem to know where hotel was. When we arrived we forgot to bring our passport for ID and they nearly sent us aay. Our hotel in Salou e mailed our ID to them !! Lesson Learn't !!!
Mertro station not too far away, area very quiet. Beakfast ok, nothing much in surrounding area for alternative.

hi all, my second visit to travelodge in seven months . just as last one , no problems . first night a bit of noise for a few minutes . not down to travelodge but parents not controlling thier children . did not do breakfast this time but it looked busy . had a few cafe con lette and medianas beers . for those that a quick to berate this hotel . it is budget and not town centre . it does not admit to be near la ramblas etc . but as said before bus right outside hotel or underground a 10 minute walk . what else you need . . on this stay i stayed at two 4 star hotels .. the travelodge had by far the largest room size .

We have stayed here many times, A good Quality Travel Lodge not far from the centre, 15 mins in Taxi or 40 Mins by Tram / Bus. Book in advance is essential to get good prices - we pay an average of 20 Euro's a Night (A family room for 4). based in the business district and close to Ikea which is incredibly cheap to eat in. Easy access to the Ramblas, the harbour and all attractions

Unlike other reviewers we stayed here for 10 nights. We found the area to be very safe and never at any time felt uneasy - although saying that, we never came back after midnight (too shattered after a day's sightseeing!) so perhaps it is different in the middle of the night.

Our room was large (family room) & clean, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning was a blessing as it was very warm (we were there in July 2012) and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Due to reading previous reviews we had a good idea of how to get to the hotel from the airport and from the metro. It was so easy and so quick to get into the city centre or to the airport. Buy a 10 journey ticket and it costs less than 1 euro for any journey that takes less than an hour and 15 minutes. You can get off the metro, change to a bus, get another bus etc. and all for that one ticket. You can change from one metro to another such as going several stops on the yellow line and then changing to the red line for example all for the one ticket. However you cannot exit from a metro and go back in on the same ticket.

The room also had a kettle (ask for one at reception if it is not in the room). This was very handy for us as sometimes we bought a snack from the supermarket in the basement of the nearby shopping mall (called Gran Via 2, only 10 minutes walk from the hotel) so we could make tea and coffee to have with our snack. I brought tea bags & dried milk and some coffee and CoffeeMate with me as I anticipated that the hotel would not provide these. A hairdryer was also available on request (no charge).

There were two minor disadvantages
1) There were no English speaking channels on the TV. Luckily other reviewers had pointed this out and so we brought a portable DVD player with us for the nights when we came back early.
2) There was no safe in the room and you could not leave money in the safe at reception. However you could leave your passports there which we did.

All in all we were very pleased with our stay in the Barcelona Travelodge and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Another traveller had recommended the 4th floor for a quiet room and so we asked for that. It was in...

We stayed at this hotel a few days ago in July 2012 and it was ok. I liked the cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel and the reception staff was helpful with our needs. We only chose the hotel for 2 nights being close to the airport but if I'd go to Barcelona more than 2 days I wouldn't choose it again because is too far away from the centre. It is located in an industrial area, a nice area though with many hotels and nice buildings, it is safe walking around and to the closest train station which is 15-20 minutes away walking. It is located too far from the centre and if you don't like walking to the train station and then change it to the metro to get to the centre there can be a problem. A good point is that is close to the Gran Via shopping centre ( 15-20 minutes walking) if you go for shopping only. I didn't like that you have to pay a lot for the internet in the room but you can have half an hour free of charge in the reception area. If you only go for a night or two it's a good deal. The price is ok for what it has to offer. For those travelling by car there is free parking. I stayed in other cities in Travelodge and everything it was ok also.

Go here only if you cannot afford anything else!

The neighborhood is not the best in terms of location and safety. It is in the middle of an abandoned industrial complex and is very far from the nearest Metro. The train that connects you to the Metro closes at midnight- so if you need to be out later you will have to take a taxi. This area is also known for drug dealers. Traveling alone not recommended at night.

There is nothing around. If you need to get a meal you are forced to eat either at the vending machine (which I did) or at the hotel's restaurant/lounge (which I also did). Both are terrible. The food was so bad that I ended up eating at the nearby Ikea (about 15 min away).

This hotel offers only the most basic amenities and is located very far from the tourist sites. There are no extras (mini fridge, safe, hair dryer, adequate soap/shampoo -the soap and shampoo come in comically sized miniature bags).

There best part of the hotel is that there is a bar that serves alcohol until 12am. Go there if you want to make peace with your decision.

I stayed in 2 other similarly priced hotels during my trip to Spain and this was by far the worst one!

Honestly, this place is not worth the initial savings. After you factor in taxi fares, time wasted traveling to/from town, lack of amenities/anything nearby, you'd end up spending just as much as if you stayed in a nicer hotel.

Please, please, please do yourself a favor and spend the extra 20 or so per night. It will be worth every cent!
