“Superior to a hotel, homey atmosphere, caring hosts!”

This is a delightful family run B&B. They treated us like we were family! So welcoming and interested in who you are and where you are from. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed and a deep bath tub, plus the common room felt just like our own living room. You got the chance to meet and talk to the other guests at breakfast. The house is on a big hill, at the edge of the city. The view from the balcony was the city of Barcelona below, lovely. The bus dropped us off almost at the door (saving us the arduous walk up that hill) plus it took us to the Metro on the way down. Very convenient for us as we wanted to be away from the bustle of the city. The best part was that all the new TV's had a dual language function that allowed us to watch certain shows in English. We highly recommend this place as an alternative to a hotel.

This is a lovely place and we are pleased we stayed there. We were well looked after and would happily return there if we are in Barca again. The house is up a very steep hill in a quiet residential area with plenty of safe on-street parking. For some this could be a drawback but for us it was a plus as we got a bit more exercise to help use up superfluous calories! We're in our 70s and it took about 10 minutes to walk down to the Metro and 15 minutes back up. There is a little bus service every half hour or so for the less energetic bit it stops at 9pm. The Barca Metro is very user friendly and easy to use.

Anita's B&B is located on a hill near Mt. Tibidabo. A very nice, quiet and safe neighbourhood and a magnificent view of the city. Anita and Ariadna are wonderful hosts. You feel like at home at their place. They have three rooms - very comfortable and clean.

If someone were to cite a drawback, it would be that this place is outskirts of the city centre. You have to take a metro and then walk uphill to get back to the B&B, that is if you miss the last bus. We generally took a cab back to the B&B - cost only 10 euro from the city centre. For us, it was actually an advantage to stay a little bit outside the city. Removed from the hustle and bustle and the pickpockets prowling around in Barcelona.

We'd definitely stay here again. Anita and Ariadna helped us out a LOT during the volcanic ash cloud mess. The day we were to leave, Barcelona airport closed down. We called up Ariadna and she had a room for us and told us to return back. The other hotels in the city were just packed and there was total chaos in general.

We have stayed at Anita’s B&B for a whole week, and enjoyed every minute of it. Adriana (speaks very good English) picked us up at the airport (you can arrange this together with the reservation of the room) and half an hour later we arrived at the B&B. The room is very comfortable, with great beds, nice chairs and very clean/new bathroom (shower) and the view over Barcelona from the terrace was magnificent. We enjoyed the view several evenings while drinking wine and eating the great bread, cheese and ham bought in town. And when it became too cold (we stayed here in the first week of March), we moved to the breakfast/living room which is only for guests, where you can play your own music)

Every morning Anna, the mother of Adriana, welcomed us with a great smile and lovely breakfast, (daily fresh bread, cereals, milk, tea, coffee, jam, marmalade and Spanish sausages). As a real Dutchman, I missed the cheese, when I asked Anne if I could get some cheese in the morning, she arranged three different type of cheese the next morning.
Anita’s B&B is ten minutes walk, downhill to the Metro Penitents which brings you in no time to all the main places in Barcelona town. I you are lucky you find a bus (nr 124) which can bring you up hill to Anita’s B&B when you return to your room. (every 20 minutes, but only till 9.00 pm). But if there is no bus, it is again only 10 minutes uphill till your room.
If you look at the map Anita’s B&B looks a bit outside the centre, but for us that was never a problem because the metro brings you to every place you like in no time and when you return “home” at the B&B you have the most beautiful view at Barcelona.
This is the great place to discover Barcelona.

We came from a cruise across the Atlantic with plans to travel by coastal trains to Rome. To be at Anita's was like returning home for a few days of rest between legs of the journey. Ariadna, the proprietor, was just home from the hospital with a new baby girl, so her mother was our hostess. Because of the baby, we got to meet most of the family. They are a people so enjoyable that you immediately feel at home.

Of course things, otherwise are unchanged for guests. If you have special needs or wants for your breakfast, you mention them in your reservation Email so that they can make arrangements. The hill is still steep and the parking is limited. If I were there during a bus driver's strike, as I saw mentioned in another review, I would rent a motor scooter from one of the vendors in the city or by the beach.

For my wife and I, Anita's is the perfect place to sleep after a day of seeing the sights and eating our way across Barcelona. Have you been to the Chocolate Museum? Not only can you see the history of chocolate and marvelous pieces of chocolate art, but you can sample as much as you like at the cafe--don't forget to try a cup of hot chocolate.

Take the Bari bus down to the shopping area on the other side of the expressway where the roads Passeig de Sant Gervasi, Carrer de Craywinckel and Avinguda de la Republica Argentina form a triangle. There are shops here that sell fresh fruits, meats, groceries during the day, so you can stock up your room fridge or have special items for breakfast. In the same area you can switch to local and express buses that go the central parts of the city. All you need do is write down or memorize the bus numbers on the bus stops, so you can catch return buses in the evening or the special night buses. Lastly, if you return very late, for the price of a coffee or drink you can stop in at a bar, cafeteria or restaurant in the same little triangle district and have a taxi called to take you up the hill.

This is a practical and easy way to see many parts of the city and become acquainted with the several neighborhoods, each with their own charm and attractions. Soon you will have the map of Barcelona in your head and you will never get lost.

We stayed at Anita's based on he other reviews on tripadvisor. We were travelling with another couple, so have the 2 rooms with the shared balcony was great!! We did not meet the owners (possibly away) but dealt with the lady who was helping out. The booking procedure and arrivals etc was prompt and well handled. The rooms were spacious, clean and modern and the balcony was great for admiring the view.

It is situated on a hill and we were very glad we had a car. Parking was not a hassle for us at the time, but there is limited space so I am not sure how it would be in busier times. We did land up driving into town and paying quite a bit for parking, but the metro stop is a far walk, and uphill, and waiting for a bus, especially late at night is not ideal.

The breakfast was nice-fresh baguette, cheese, jam, cereal, and toasted bikinis but would have liked there to be some fresh fruit available - there is only so much cheese and white bread we can consume :)

There was an unfortunate incident, most likely due to miscommunication, but it did result in our trip ending on a slightly bitter note. We had asked to leave stuff in the fridges in our rooms (we were leaving Anitas for 1 night to go up the coast) for when we returned the following day. As no one was using our rooms that night they said it was fine. When we returned, all our stuff from the fridge was gone (which were quite a few boxes of biscuits & several slabs of chcoclate bought as presents for friends back home). After speaking with them, we were told there had been a misunderstanding and that our stuff would be returned. But by the time we had to leave, our stuff was not returned. Was a bit disappointed in that service and how it was handled.

But overall, it is a clean, modern and comfortable B & B, that is away from the hustle and bustle, with great views over the city.

Anita's is exactly as described in their website; we could not have been more pleased. Breakfast is simple but substantial: fresh bread and croissants, jam, butter, cereal, juice, toasted ham and cheese sandwiches, coffee.

The family met us at the airport with a placard for easy identification, and they took us to the cruise port on our day of departure. The total fee fee for pickup from the airport and delivery to the port was 55 Euros. Well worth it.

Our room was one of those with the shared terrace, and the view of Barcelona is spectacular. Our room was comfortably furnished with a small sitting area and with a very modern bathroom. Anita is very helpful with advice about restaurants, transportation, tourist attractions, and personal security and safety. She speaks English, as does her daughter who assists her.

The only caution for a visitor is to realize in advance that the metro is a long walk (return trip uphill--you are on a mountainside) or a ten minute bus ride (the bus stop is a one minute walk from the B & B, and the bus runs about every thirty minutes until 2100). Taxi fare from the metro (Penitents) to the B&B is about 5 euros. The view and home comforts outweighed the location, and we were able to come and go without difficulty (taxi from the metro for late arrivals after the traditional late dinner hour in Spain).

Internet is available in the breakfast room at all times; wireless is there but not dependable in the rooms.

Anita's is not in the center of the action, but if you enjoy a retreat from the crowds with all the comforts of home this is for you.
